Just put the first set of replacement tires on my FJR, I got Michelin Pilot Road 2's. My question to all you is , the front tire seems to make, I guess I would describe a wind type howl that I never noticed before. Has anyone else experienced this, or is it something I may have done remounting the front tire?

Thanks for any comments

PR2's do have a front tire hum; mine did it straight from the start. (they are a directional tire, if you have mounted them correctly they hum, if mounted wrong, perhaps hum more?) Check your arrows.

I've got about 600 miles on fresh PR2's and can't say I've notice it. I wear a full face Arai with a Sena headset installed. Don't know if that makes a difference.

It is mounted in the corect direction and tire pressure just under 40 psi, wheel moves freely except the slight brake pad drag. Good to know others have heard it as well maybe ear plugs are the answer.

Thanks

I have 10,400 miles on my PR-2's and they do make a slight hum noise but these are the best tires I have had on this bike - second to none. Has anybody tried the PR-3's??

In my opinion - A little more noise, a little less lifetime and a bit better handling; especially in wet. Besides, they look cool.

(based upon one set of PR3 and multiple sets of PR2.) Currently running PR2 but will try something else next time - maybe Pirelli Angel GT if I can find a good price on them.

RossKean,

I have a Pirelli Angel GT on the way (to replace my worn Angel ST). The best prices were on the net (dealer's won't come close and they won't install the tire if you bought it from elsewhere - luckily I have a buddy who does the work himself)... Canada's Motorcycle has free shipping and the tire for $181 (plus taxes). You can find the tire also on Petes-Superbike.com for $159.95 plus shipping and taxes. Two reputable sites that are legit.

Since new I have only ridden PR 2's and 3's after the 021 fiasco! I wrongly thought all my tires would go as quickly as the dreaded 021 and purchased a Cycle Hill machine to save money on all the perceived tire changes? Of course I enjoy great success with the Michelin's both with mileage and handling. I have found more feedback through the handlebars with the 3's (slight vibration when braking) than the 2's but really can't say I have noticed noise? I wear full face and use ear plugs so, and I'm old so that may account for the lack of hearing acuity? 2 cents. I too buy from Pete's or Cycle Canada with total satisfaction.

Glad to be pulling the PR2's off my bike, new 'stone 023GT's going back on. I'm at a little under 7,000, to the wear bars. Not complaining about the mileage, but the howl you speak of has been getting on my nerves. The front and rear will sort of synchronize and you get a lovely whaaa whaaa whaa that speeds up or slows down with the bike. Now that a have a Rifle screen and it's quiet, the noise is pretty crazy!

I've got 8300 miles on my PR3's now. I am truly amazed how well the tires are holding up. I am able to ride my bike for work. So, I am stuck riding alot of interstate. But when available, I'll ride the twisties as well. These tires just work and work well. TBH, I don't think you would be able to out ride this tire on the street. I always keep on top of the air pressures. I've been running 40 front and rear. Will I buy another set? Maybe. I might try out the Angel GT's just to see.

My bike came crated/new with B-Stones, which lasted only about 4K. I made my first tire change to the PR2's. Man, what a much better tire!

I already have more miles on the PR2's than I did when the Stones got retired and my PR2's still look almost new. No hum or noise for mine either, I do ride with a quiet helmet however.

I'm on my second set of PR3's. Handle great wet or dry. No noise that I can hear from them at all.

Just took off PR2 and replaced with PR3s. Only have 3 miles on the new set. I'll post back in a few weeks. I'm headed to Michigan so I'll have a few thousand miles by then. From what I've read and seen I think I'll like them.

I run PR2's and just replaced front tire with 11,400 miles and just about to the wear bar. rear tire was replaced earlier with 15,600 miles and near wear bar. I have noticed some hum when riding with face shield open. Given the fantastic wear and handling, I can gladly put up with a little hum. One of my friends is running PR3's on his BMW RT and is very happy. I hear the 3's wear a little faster than the 2's. Any one have that experience?

Yes - a bit shorter lifetime on PR3. Maybe 10% less (just a guess). I have run just one set of PR3 and multiple sets of PR2.
