I had a coupon for each of the harbor freight torque wrenches 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 for $10 each. Good enough for me. Alot of things I wrench I just use the "good enough" method with a regular wrench. Never has failed me too.
torque wrenches fall into the class of "precision tools". it's a class you don't want "good enough". investing in a precision tool that's actually precise seems self evident.

I have used many torque wrenches. It is amazing the difference in feel and quality. That being said, at home last few months I made a horrendous mistake of augmenting a Kobalt 1/2 drive torque wrench with a 3/8 Autozone whatever brand wrench (both click type). What a nightmare of a decision that was (I needed one now (living in boonies), tools in storage, etc. etc.) The autozone one is first off in inch-pounds. That's fun to do every time. Second, it completely failed on me (stopped "clicking"). This happened during work on the bike and contributed to it being overtorqued and a bad situation. NEVER AGAIN. By the way, it did come with the handy dandy calibration paper and all that. It is very similar in quality to the Harbor Freight.

A brand of tool I've never had the opportunity to recommend is Kobalt (torque wrenches) To me, they are the best bang for the buck. I think better built than other sub $150 wrenches, limetime warranty, etc. If memory serves they are around $70 and $80. I now use two of those. They aren't very travel friendly (long arms).

If your wrench doesn't click and you overtorque, it could be a very expensive hassle.
