The new Yamaha V-Max is one bad *** bike. It exudes attitude. The short wheelbase kinda makes look wider, and with those big air scoops on the front, well it just looks mean. It has 197HP. Fuel is carried low down in the bike, so it's not top heavy but I'm told it only has about 100mile range. Once running, it sounds way cool.

When the key is turned, the rider is greeted with a digital display that says 'Let's Ride', and then it says good-bye when you turn the key off.

I sat on the bike but struggled with it because it's higher than a stock FJR.

At $17K, I wonder which kind of rider it will attract? There are only 2500 of them available for the US.

I had daydreamed about one, but the price, the seat height and the lack of fuel range keep me firmly rooted to my FJR.

I'd hazzard a guess that the price will go down, once they're more available.

Otherwise, I'll pass on the thing.

As much as I loved my '98 V-Max, there were just too many short comings for me to keep it. Many of those have been addressed in the new model, but I have graduated from that kind of riding to the longer rides through the twisties.

If I won the lottery, then maybe.

Since when do looks have anything to do with being a Bad *** Mo-Fo?

the V-Max was once described as "The Ultimate Hooligan Bike," which I think is still very fitting.

Funny how people see things differently. I always have .... and continue with the new model ... to think the V-MAX looks great. Bad-*** is definitely the term.

On the other hand, the B-King looks dorky.

I look forward to the chance to ride the new V-MAX. Hopefully I won't have to wait years. Way to go Yamaha! :clapping:

I figure in about 3 years I'll swap my FJR for it. (blasphemy!!!!) by then whatever new design bugs there are should be worked out and there should be ample aftermarket stuff to make it into a decent tourer.

B-king is just waaaaay to ugly to me.

I like my FJR a lot but it would certainly would be more fun with 60 more hp. properly equipped Vmax might be just the ticket.
