Tried it tonight. I braked exsessively hard on the rear and it might of slid a bit but overall, just a smooth stop. I didn't try the front as hard because I didn't want to do a stoppie or something. New bike paranoia! I havn't got my first scratch yet..... They both just smoothly stop. I gues I expected the feeling you get in a car. I'll have to try it in the rain next or better yet; accross my lawn....lol

Dude. Grow a pair for crying out loud. :p

I don't know how they make the rear so smooth, but I assure you, when you activate the front ABS it will be more like what you experience in a car. You've got till tomorrow to report back about the experience. Otherwise you have to wear a dress for week.

LOL.....don't tell me you ran like the devil on your scooter the first week you bought it. I'm still sleeping with mine. Before you know it, I'll be running the hell out of this thing. 33 years of riding and racing for District 6 for 10, I think I've outgrown my jock strap by now.....they get any bigger and then I'll be labled stupid (with dented big ones). Last week I ran my FZ1000 145mph on the local interstate and suddenly I saw my life go by and leaving 4 kids in college without my help...I had to slow down. Besides, I ran out of road!

PS: I just tried front hard braking it in the dark. It worked and I stalled it. Got a little pulsation and was so consumed by the effect it had I forgot to clutch.....good thing nobody was watching...

When I feel it pulsate I come to a stop really quick. When I'm sober I can get back up to speed fairly quick. Then, when I feel it pulsate again it takes me longer to get back up to speed.

F'ing A!!! The first DAY I got it! 4th gear roll on from 50 to 145. I imagine smoking crack for the first time is a similar experience. I'm the exception to the older and wiser thing.

Funny about stalling it. Props though for getting it activated, and in the DARK for your first time. Earns you a solid "B" on your homework assignment.

Now you only have to wear a dress for a single day. I want photos.

:p

Remember guys, if you want to stop as fast as possible on an ABS equipped bike you don't necessarily want to simply "grab and handfull of brakes".

ABS systems, by design, will bleed off brake pressure actually "pulse it away" using fast cycling valves in the Hydrolic control unit. When this happens, each time pressure is bled off, you are actually loosing stopping power as the system allows the wheel rotate.

To stop as fast as possible, you will actually want to practice braking hard, but just to the point of where the wheels want to begin to lockup. If the ABS is full active and just happily pulsing away as you grab and fist-full of brakes, you are actually going to take a longer distance to stop.

It takes practice.

Yes it does!! What I hate is that you are just about to come to a stop and the front ABS kicks in the last foot or two.. Of course you leap forward another 6 inches as it pulses. I practice a lot and still have a really hard time consistently preventing it from activating those last few feet during a quick stop. Oh well!!!

If you put the bike on the center stand, then put it in first gear and let the clutch out, after a few seconds the ABS light should start to blink. I assume this is because the front tire is stationary, and the read wheel is turning. Might have to engage the brakes a little as well, I can't remember. I stumbled upon this by accident.

I felt my ABS engage for the first time a few weeks ago. I wasn't paying close enough attention, and the car in front of me slammed on their brakes. I felt the pulses in the foot pedal, but not the brake lever. Stopped with LOTS of room to spare. The ABS can really slow you down in a big hurry.
