"Multi-compound Super Rich Silica (SRS) treads give rear tyres an extra 12% mileage ..."

Let's see. 12% of nearly nothing = less than the 9000 or so I got from my almost-as-good PRII's.

Now, I loved the grip of the Storm. Best tire (bar none) I've run for grip in wet or dry conditions. But the mileage I got was @4500. Maybe next winter when the rains start, and the tires I just put on are done.

Waiting for somebody to say 'go to the dark side.'

My problems with the AVON Storms were the build quality from tyre to tyre. I love the way they grip too, but I've had several front storms go sour within 8k miles - cupping.

Other storm fronts lasted upwards of 15k.

Rear storms ranged between 3k and 7k. I've had 3 warranty replacements through the years.

Yeah! I'm tired of wearing out rear tyres...

I think this will last a while longer than just 12%.
:p

Ok, all you blasphemers keep your car tire follies in your own thread and stop hijacking this poor guy's thread.

As for Avons, I totally loved the Azaro. Hated the Storm. So I'll take a very cautious approach to anything new released by Avon. Their quality control does suck.

Same here: I had an Avon structurally fail years ago (sad to see it's still going-on); contacted the rep. and they sent another one (free) -- it failed just like the first.

Fool me once, shame on you -- fool me twice, shame on me... :(

Same for me. I have moved on from Avons and don't see any reason to go back.

I had only one experience with Avons 7 or 8 years ago on my CBR. 570 miles on the front and 800 miles on the rear and I had nothing to show for it but some cords showing through. As far as grip, I didn't feel they worked any better than Metzlers or even Bridgestones. So I wouldn't consider trying their touring tires.

Same for me...they have lost customer base as a direct result of their lack of control of their factory practices.

Moved on to Michelin, Dunlop, and Pirelli.

I love Avon's too. I had one bad tire a few years ago, so I will give these a shot I suspect when I need new rubber. I agree about the QC, it can be better. One of the reasons I stay away from Bridgestone/Firestone is problems with the QC from the past. The 021 stock tires and lousy wear did not hep either.

Skooter is so wrong. The AssZaros suck. Just sayin'.. Seriously they suck. :****: I bought some for discount prices and was so happy to wear them down.. I even smoked the last 2k worth out of the rear just so I didn't have to ride on it anymore. Sorry Skoot. They suck.
Oh, but to find common ground, yeah, all you car tire guyz suck!

What do they suck?? :yahoo:

PS Used Azzaro's on my old Concours ZG1000 - loved them. Used Storm's on the FJR - loved the tire, not the wear rate - 9000 km ouch. PR 2's on now, waiting for spring to put some miles on them. I too would like some reviews of actual use of the Ultra's.
