Just got back from SFO and replaced my rear 880 with 14,500 on it. It worked fine in the twisties and the rain on Thursday. I put on a rear Storm today and after I am done with it looks like I will stick with the 880s.

What were the temps while you were riding in the rain?

Ya'll have fun with the acronym "ATTP"I will be sorely disappointed if there aren't AT LEAST 50 different obscene and outrageous definitions given for ATTP.

Grumpy swears by his ME880 rear. I know it was plenty sticky enough for him at EOM last year. It's soon to be summer with very hot temps on these 40-grit roads. With the heat and lots of foreseeable 2-up riding, it seems an appropriate time to test how the ME880 will hold up.

So by popular vote, the next two contestants on "The Price Is Right For Grinding That Tire" are...

Metzeler ME880 170/60VR-17 Rear $139.95

Bridgestone BT021 180/55ZR17 $119.95

Please!!! Nobody tell my HD neighbor I'm testing a HD tire. I'll never live it down!
I had ME880s on my RT and loved them. I was getting double the mileage of the Z4s previously used and did not have any problem with reduced cornering traction, at least on that bike. I have Tourances on my GS (same harder compound) and also find they give me plenty of traction.

I cannot, however, come to grips with putting a smaller profile tire on the feejer than is currently used. I wish Metzeler would just step up and make a tire to fit, but I assume they must be afraid to, due to liability issues if someone comes off at 145+.

Actually, the ME880's have a bit larger profile.....bigger aspect ratio at 170 x 60. I found the tire circumference to pretty much the same as the 180 X 55's. For me the only issue was "stickiness" in the cold weather.

Avons Turd Tire Propaganda

Yo, Ashe! Start taking comparative photos of the tires when new and used. Use a standard for the photography, like a white board background with scale.

RJ gave me the idea: Click.
