So the NFL draft is tonight, and while I know a lot of people put this into the 'who gives a flying rats... my wife actually likes watching this with me, she looks at it like a reality show that is actually based in reality. I just hope the Raiders keep doing smart draft choices so they can win a game or two this year. With that in mind I am running out and getting some supplies to have a mini super bowl party tonight with my wife and kids, should be fun. At least for the first round... after that I think it gets to be like watching paint dry.

Any 'abby-normal' things you like to eat at small gatherings that are unique? Looking for something different to try with the family.

I haven't any food suggestion for you, erixun,

We play the Packers this year, my buddy is a die hard fan. We are going to try and catch the game this year in Oakland, he says he needs to have a couple of Raider fans with him so he doesn't get beat up. I told him that it might not help if you guys kick our butts.

with that said - I usually go straight to Lougle with exactly what your looking for and it seems to pop up some fantastic suggestions if wade through it.... https://bit.ly/1DZHmsx

Not but a few years ago I bought a smoker, I was budgeting for a super nice weber summit gas grill, being capt over kill I had a budget of roughly around $2k - but I already have twin weber kettles and have been cooking directly for longer then I can remember.... Locally, places seem to be popping up all over with the latest theme of BBQ joints... after trying some places and loving what I had - I made a slight deviation in thought and picked up a high end smoker... Picked up a Yoder 640 comp smoker

Bit of a back story I know, but --- point is, after these last few years of making all sorts of this and that, I almost rarely make much food anymore in my own oven or on the stove top, and the weber kettles haven't seen use in years... There are some of the most ridiculous things out there with video recipes, here is just one...

I could make 100 of those things and there will never be any left after a party...

Love doing this in the summer with Old Bay crab Seasoning, also do it with shrimps when we can't find the mudbugs.

Take mini hotdogs and wrap them in croissant pieces. Little pigs in a blanket. Frigging awesome.
Ha ha, believe it or not this is on the list for tonight. Taking all beef Hebrew Nationals cut into quarters with a chunk of bacon stuffed in for good measure. We call these piggies and the kids love em.

Whiskey makes me 10' tall, mean and invincible. I will stick with the rum and cokes, with a shock top and orange wedge as a chaser.

Kids are getting rootbeer floats.

I know it's a little late, but next time you have some friends over for barley refreshments, these are pretty good.

My wife takes a few packages of those packaged, skinny bread sticks in the salad dressing aisle at the grocery store. I forget the brand name, but it's Italian. Get the cheese ones or the plain ones. She melts a couple sticks of butter in a roasting pan in the oven, and adds a bunch of seasoning. Garlic powder, onion powder, liquid smoke, maybe some smoked paprika powder and celery salt. I like to add a little of my homemade magic.
(I grow many different peppers each summer. Jalapeno, habanero, scotch bonnet, cayenne, Anaheim, Thai dragon, etc. Then I smoke them, dehydrate them, and grind them into a fine powder. YES, it's dangerous when emptying the grinder. I say this from wheezing, sneezing, coughing, eye-watering experience.)
Throw the breadsticks in the pan when the butter is melted, and put them in the oven. Every 5 or 10 minutes, take them out and use a baster to suck up the juice and drizzle it over the sticks. Gently stir the sticks around, trying to be careful to not break them. HINT: Broken ones MAY be removed and eaten during cooking and/or after. I recommend having a cocktail during the process, but it can probably be done without. Don't know why you'd do it that way, but who am I to judge?

Let them dry for a while after oven removal, and enjoy. I've eaten them at work during the day without a cocktail, and they're great. I will admit, however, that they're even better when eaten with my brothers at a cabin in northern Wisconsin, after a day of catching fish and smiling like a possum eating bumblebees. Again, I recommend a refreshing beverage. Enjoy.

(Oh yeah, I almost forgot........Go Packers!)
