While at lunch today they had the NHRA Junior Drags on TV for kids from 8 yrs or so to about 17. The cars they were driving looked like rails and the times and speed ranged from about 10 sec/50mph to 8 sec/80mph. The track must be an 1/8th mile.

Any info on engines used, fuel (gas, not race fuels), etc? This must be one very expensive hobby for the kids to be in.

Thanks,

Chester

I live in Frederick MD and at the local track they have these race all the time. A few were for sell, they were probably looking to upgrade.

Go to a few of your local drag strips and I would almost bet you will find them there and all the info you would ever want.

Starting price around $5000 but if you buy a used one they may have invested more to go faster and be less!

Sparky - thanks for the info. I have no desire to get one, I was just curious as to what was going on as there was no sound and all I could do was see them. I must admit, they are not as expensive as I thought they might be. For 5 hp, they scoot right along.

Here many girls drive them. It is really a whole family event. Wish I knew about them when my daughter was younger. Maybe if I have another...

No more expensive than dirt bikes :D
