Not only that -- but they (old board-track racers) didn't have throttles, either. They just ran wide-open....! (Hey, it's a race -- ain't it?) To slow down they had a hack-saw-blade type kill-switch on the handlebar that grounded the magneto primary and, thus, no-spark (temporarily) -- and all the spectators could tell you were doing it (slowing down).That's very, very cool!! The owner of the bike shop I work part time at is a huge bike collector & just got an old Indian board track racer. No brakes on either end. Sure have a lot of respect for anyone who rode them.
