I used to hang out on 419 eater quite a bit. Three people, in particular, have really taken it to the scammers.
ShiverMeTimbers is the admin and owner of the site. He's a master of Photoshop and fake newspaper articles. His prose is excellent, and his imagination is rarely, rarely matched. His stories in the trophy room are priceless.
There was a south african, in 2003, whose name escapes me. I think he sort of snapped and became a sadist, or always was a sadist. He sent his scammer on a "walkabout" through the middle of nowhere in north central Africa, chasing anti-scam Western Union telegrams that didn't exist. He darn near got the scammer he was baiting killed. When asked to knock it off, he went into overdrive.
Another member on that forum convinced a scammer that he was shipping valuable electronics from the US to Lagos, Nigeria. He loaded up a junked washing machine with bricks and sent it, postage due, to Lagos. I forget what the freight was, but it was a LOT. He took a lot of pictures of all the bricks going into the washing machine and then posted a copy of the receipt from the shipping company that indicated the freight was paid in Lagos.
You can probably still find on 419 eaters a copy of a covertly made film of a scammer's agent showing up in Amsterdam to collect money.
There's crazy stuff on that website, for sure.
