I am running a Passport X-50 detector through a CAB-36 isolated audio cable and then through a Starcom Advance that I purchased from Jeff at SportBikeEffects. The problem is that the only way I get audio is if I pull the cable out maybe 1/4 of the way from the detector. Plugged all the way in I get nothing. At the time I bought the detector, I had also purchased a cable and Ground Loop Isolator from Escort but this alone doesn't work either. Whats the next troubleshooting step? Does it sound like a bad socket on the detector itself? Does it make any difference if the cable is stereo or mono? I'm stumped.

You have the mono end of the jack going to the detector, yes? Also, plug into the phone jack on the S/C.

Edit: You got the CAB36? That's the one with the 2.5 to 3.5mm coverter jack, right? That's the one for the GPS. The 2.5 to 3.5 converter is loosey- goosey and can cause some problems. I mentioned this to Jeff and, IIRC, he checked his inventory for this issue. If you can't gt it to work right, call or email Jeff and suggest a swap for the CAB35. Jeff is aces - he'll take care of ya!

Mono end of the jack to detector....hmmmm.

Plugged it into the auxiliary jack as specified in the directions but will most certainly try the phone jack. I'm assuming that the music will also drop out when the detector goes off?

Yup. I have the GPS in the Aux and detector in the phone. Both mute the audio when activated. You can adjust the amount of mute time, IIRC

The CAB-36 has 3.5mm jacks on both ends. That is what you bought TWN.
