Honda announces new 2010 U.S. touring bike (for whom...?):

NT700V (Deauville), zzzz....

While it may be dull... I am thinking this kind of bike will have a market with inexperienced riders, and possibly those small in stature. Not everybody wants or needs a rip snortin', fire breathing, super sport touring machine. (I do, but that's beside the point)

A case in point is the number of BMW boxer twins still being sold... ;)

Waiting to learn more about it, but from an optimistic perspective, I kinda agree with Fred. Many times here, we've asked what we might come up with as a smaller, lighter sport touring bike for those for whom an FJR or a Connie or a ST are just too much.

That just might be the perfect bike for my wife. The FJR is too much for her to handle, and she doesn't like the sport bikes or the taller dual sports. The price seems a little high to me.

Come to think of it, I never owned a Honda.

Huh?
That bike has about as much in common with an SV650 as it does with Hayabusa.
The "sort of" was supposed to imply sarcasm. I was simply after similar-displacement v-twin, that's all. The "comparison" does point out the price insanity, though.

How does 530 lbs. (w/fuel) and 110 mph top speed sound?

edit: I also read 560 lbs.

(32 inch seat height)

Now's you chance (too)... :)

(you know -- it only has a 5 speed.... ) ;)

Oh, sorry. I missed the sarcasm in your voice... ;)

But this bike does fill a rather "unique" position in the market. I would say the Deauville is a slightly less ugly version of the Pacific Coast 800. And that now has a cult following.

And they can be ridden around the world. From the IBA
