And honestly BWV, I was being funny and too harsh. I bought mine used and had a bunch of problems related to the previous owner's dumbness. Parts were cheap and the only thing I ever broke was the rear brake pedal when I went down hard on some huge rocks. I was not gentle with it.

I wish it would have handled better. It hated sand and loose stuff. In the end it just didn't work for what I wanted it for, but that wasn't really the bike's fault. Actually sold it for more than I bought it, but I did a LOT of work to it.

What I don't understand is how Kawi took a pig of a gen l and made it into a hog with the gen ll.

I have done nothing but abuse my KLR but at the end of the day I can follow those DR's most anywhere (screw single track) and still have fuel plus a happy butt with the big seat.
