So as of this weekend, I am no longer homeless! I've made the mistake move and purchased my very first home. As my realtor (friend of mine) said, "Congratulations, your broke!" This whole process has kept me very busy lately because the home I'm purchasing is a foreclosure and the process has not quite been very smooth. I've had to deal with many delays, unsigned contracts, incorrectly signed documents, and pretty much you name it! Foreclosures really are a pain! Not to mention mortgage rates have been bouncing around like crazy. Its so crazy that while I was on the phone with my loan officer to lock my rate, my rate went up! Its left me a little frazzled, but excited to be moving into my own home. I did get a pretty killer price on the home, and I'm walking into it with quite a bit of equity so its not all bad. I suppose the real 'fun' is just about to begin!

Needless to say, this has also left my ass very broke! Unfortunately for me this means no NAFO, no SW-FOG, and only 1-2 rally's this year. These were sacrifices I knew I would have to make, but for some reason still decided to moved forward. I'm still hoping to do a few LD rides I've been planning for some time now, and of course I'm still hoping to get into the IBR next year. If that does happen, then I will definitely be broke off my ass!! I may have to whore myself out like Skooter did last year!

Congrats vectervp1! Now your feejer has a specific place for heading back to the barn!

You ARE going to keep the FJR in the living room, right?

+1 - Congrats.

If you want to really be depressed, consider that; you never really ever own your home. Not even after you finish paying all that money to the bastidges that hold the motgage. The city/town does, as is evidenced by their ability to collect money every 6 months, forever... :(

congrats on ya new home

since i operate a hardware and lumber center, i might give ya a discount if you want to pick up materials for remodeling.

be a hell of a long way to deliver and the delivery charges would kill ya :p

No problemo, man. Welcome to the club... ;)

Nice looking place. I hope you enjoy it for many years.

If I ever decide to leave the northeast, Arizona is on my short list of places to consider.

Congrats Art, :clapping: but don't cancel all your trips. Everything has its priorities and when you are young, single, and homeless it is pretty easy to blow a lot of your income on outside entertainment that you don't miss once you are a homeowner. I thought I was going to be pretty broke for several years after I bought my first home but once I stopped spending money on things I didn't need life went on just as it had before.

It's still all cheaper than dog tracks, hookers, and blow.

Congrats. ;)

Think warm and bank account pummeling thoughts for drawings next month.

I'm hoping the moto gods shine down on me in the next month. I've already made a sacrifice of a nail in a rear tire, and if necessary I'll step it up to taking some photo's at night with a poloroid camera.

Dude! Where is your lawn!!???

oh yeah... It's in Arizona.
Not having a lawn was actually a requirement of mine. The rental home I was in had a pretty nice sized back and front yard with grass throughout. Well, I'm allergic to most grass so after mowing the lawn I would pretty much spend the rest of the day feeling like hell and sneezing things up that resembled small sea going animals.

The new house has all desert landscaping with the exception of a small 4x10 section of grass in the back yard.

Art, congratulations !!

You'll love it when you file your taxes for 2008.

And you'll hate it the first time you have to call a plumber.

Looks hot in a temperature sense. Congrats! BTW, when is you roomie, skooter, moving in? Lock your bedroom door at night - he like to spoon.

:p

Congrats! I am buying a foreclosure right now too. This is my 6th time to purchase, but the first foreclosure, and you are right about it being a PITA compared to a normal deal. I was lucky and locked my rate last Monday. Just after they announced the Bear-Stearns "Bail-Out", the market tanked and rates went down accordingly, however they went back up on Turesday after the Fed dropped the short term rates. I just managed to hit that perfect little window of opportunity. . . most of the time my luck runs to the contrary! Home ownership is very satisfying, but can be very frustrating at times too. It the end, I think you will be glad that you did it.
