At least some of the reporting is not accurate misleading written from an 'editorial' point of view. Ben & Jerry's reporting is off base, still in VT, still makes ice cream in VT using groovy VT cow milk. My father was a Unilever-USA VP when the B&J deal was done and Unilever put a special panel in place to allow B&J to continue their operation as it was.

All the above companies do plenty of business here, do they pay U.S. tax on all the U.S. profit? Or was that covered in the article? I didn't read it....

Yes, at least in the case of Unilever, they run the business just as if they were a USA business and pay taxes as such.

It takes some digging to read down to the real facts on most alarmist articles. I just happen to have some insight into one of the "WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE" articles.

Yeah, but most people would rather just watch some NASCAR. Good on those who get the facts before buying the spin....

I happened to catch this article on msn.
Things no longer made in America:

Miller Beer

https://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Inves...?slide-number=1

I was just at the Coors Brewery this weekend and although in 08 Miller and Coors formed a partnership (merged) to sorta form one major Mega beer company, they were pretty clear that every drop of Miller was still brewed in the US, and unless I misheard, every drop is brewed in Milwaukee. Just as all Coors is made in Golden, CO. The only products brewed outside the US is that piss in a can that Coors calls Molson, most of it is brewed in Canada and Grolsch, made in the UK. If it has a Miller or Coors label on it, it was made here.

You're kidding, right?!? The only thing silver bullets are good for is killing werewolves. In fact, they can keep every drop they brew in the Rockies as far as I'm concerned. I do enjoy MGD, though. If you don't like Molson Canadian, you need to get your taste buds checked. :p

It was humorous, and a bit sad, when I was in Beijing at the Silk Market, they were selling knock-off Levi's, which had on their label "Made in America". Not sure how long its been, but they haven't been made here for years. Of course, they were also selling knock-offs of almost every major brand. Got my son a couple "Ralph Lauren Polo" button down shirts for about $3 each.

Thank you for supporting the child labor sweatshop industry. Those kids really needed the business.

Just as all Coors is made in Golden, CO.

About 25 years ago, Coors was trying to expand their market and decided to put a brewery in the east; Pennsylvania, I believe. To protect there investment in advertising, they had a fleet of rail tank cars that did nothing but haul water to the new brewery from Colorado. That way they could still say it was brewed with pure Rocky Mountain water.

I'm a virtual cesspool of insignificant information.

Uhm, I believe the largest (it was at one time, think it still is but might not be) Miller breweries is 1/2 mile down the road from my house. And last time I checked it was still America :)

Owned vs. Manufactured is two different things.

The Miller/Coors website shows 9 brewery locations in the U.S. (including Coors and Leinenkugel)

I'd link it but you have to go through an age-verification portal before accessing the site.

Was this list compiled by the same twit that claimed Target was owned by the French (and a laundry-list of other smears) about 5 years ago?

Hey, every time you buy anything in this country, for the most part, you're supporting China. Try and find anything made in this country today. Hell, I think even Harley "electronics" are foreign made. Unless you make it yourself, there ain't much left that's truly "made in America".

Especially if you buy anything at Wal-Mart.

I get USA-made US flags and oil filters there (oil too. Saved almost five bucks on four quarts)....

Saw an interesting story on the news today. American Express (and maybe other CC companies) are now using spending patterns to guess if you're becoming a risk and adjusting lines of credit based on the findings. If you always shopped at the mall, then suddenly start shopping at Wal Mart, red flags fly and you might get your limit reduced....

Where was your white flag made?
