Read it and weep, Jorge! Skooty has been jonesing for a BMW R1200GS forever, he's now officially out of the closet! Well, at least as far as motorcycles are concerned!

What was going on in Stillwater? He visited petey??
Jawohl, our Petey picked up Skooty from the OKC airport yesterday and took him back to his house in Stillwater. They sat around drinking Biere und eating Schnitzel, mit Strudel for dessert, last night; then they sang a few old Wehrmacht drinking songs together and Petey taught SkooterG some appropriate Germanic sayings. Petey took Greg to the pickup point for the GS and he is now motoring home. I hope he names her Brunhilda, I always liked Brunhilda as a name fur ein Deutsche Motorrad!!!

Well, knowing Greg, he talked to petey non-stop from Will Rogers International Airport all the way to petey's place, through dinner, and after petey went to bed. :clapping: ..picking right up where he left off at breakfast time.

j/k there SkooterB.

Have a great trip...hope the new BMW comes with extra spare parts...if you know what I mean. :p

Ja!!

Hey,hey..I don't know what you guys are talking about, breaking down and replacing parts on those great german engineered two wheelers :assassin: :p  ...I had three beemers (drank koolaid) between '99 and '05 and NEVER broke down or had to replace parts other than filters, tires and a battery...

Anyone care to place a bet the final drive fails on the way home?
That would be some funny shit. Skooter wouldn't see the humor but the rest of us would. :yahoo:
Achtung: Richtig, I got on my BMW short wave radio set in my basement and contacted Berlin over your nasty comments. You both are on Hans und Dieter's Scheisse list. Dumbkopfs!!! Putzes!!!

I'm guessing the "B" stands for Beta in this case (the test version). The first time he throws that mega-dually away he's going to have to mortgage his house to repair all of that Bavarian excess!

I predict an early return for Skooty to the FJR fold - probably a more-refined Gen II next time tho...

Congrats bro - post up some pics when you get a chance.

Glad to hear that Skooter is coming out of the closet Don! ...truth be known, I've been jonesing for a GSA a couple years now too! [Did I just say that out loud?]

Looks like SkooterG bunked down in Amarillo, Texas last night; taking his time returning to Arizona. escapefjrtist: Next time that I see you, I will make up a large stein of the ever delicious purple BMW Kool-Aid for you; helps you see things the BMW Way. I would make one for Niehart too, but then he would make me drink a glass of the Ducati vino flavored Kool-Aid!

SkooterG taking his time??? Is there a shop in Amarillo... perhaps final drive issues???

...Actually Don, I don't want to push your buttons, who else is going to advise me on my Mexican travels :p

(I want to do a B2B2B next summer) Besides after I took the wife on a SS1000, I now have her convinced "She"

needs to get a GS 650. ;) So "As long as its yellow" I have her blessing to add a dual sport to the

stable. Forget the facts that she has no MC endorsement on her license, and has never driven one...

I GET MY DUAL SPORT THAT I HAVE WANTED FOR SOME TIME NOW !!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I'd laugh my ass off if it happened. Hell, I get the chuckles just envisioning a pissed of SkooterB standing by his flaming broken rear end (ruh roh) with his thumb out looking for some samaritan to save his broken down BMW ass while knowing he's just been had and will have to post up on the FjrForum about it! :p  ;)

Them boyz went gay years ago and now are known as Sigfried and Roy. :****:

ScooterB? Doesn't BMW mean= Bikes Made Weird?

I am somewhat(?) suspect of the Suzuki coining the handle on the V-Strom also, and have wondered what its name origin is?

Anybody...Buehler?

Color me confused Don, I thought you were going all the way to Cullman, Alabama, next May to pick up your new YAMAHA Super Tenere. :p

You'd have to be inside the minds of the same guys that decided on the name Savage for the little 40 cubic inch single cruiser to know for sure.

Nevertheless, I thought when it came out that maybe it was a play on Maelstrom, a Norwegian word that has made its way into the English language. A Maelstrom is an open sea whirlpool that can literally suck ships in and take them down to Davy Jones locker.

When Suzuki came out with the V-Strom, one of the things they touted was the induction swirl, and I thought that the V twin coupled with the induction system might have lead someone to coin V-Strom. Its been a long time though. That bike is long in the tooth, and I think it has aged well. Suzuki does a nice job of keeping their stuff around. Look at the Katana, for example.

Confused is my middle name, MCRIDER007! I am adding the YAMAHA Super Tenere to the current fleet of 2 Beemers, FJR and H-D FXD; I sadly will probably sell my beloved "Ingrid", my 2005 BMW R1150RT. Ingrid has been a real trooper and a fantastic machine, she's taken me to Alaska and Acapulco, I will cry when she rides away with her new owner. But "Eva Mendes", my new Tenere, will take her place. I much prefer Latina Mujeres over Teutonic Fraulein's anyway!!!
