Crap.
Folks say that laser is not real effective on motorcycles given the small frontal area and lack of reflective surface (ie..front plate). Fact or Fiction in your experience up North ?
The guy who got me on northbound 1 just south of Carmel last summer didn't have much trouble, apparently.

Yep....LIDAR. CHP is using it actively (and effectively) on the I-80 corridor especially between Vacaville and Fairfield though I have seen them around Dixon and farther East between Sacramento and Roseville. There seems to be a big "push" to enforce where the speedier drivers have been exercising their tendencies.

When Silent and I were coming home from NAFO, now on Highwy 80 over the hump from Reno and blasting west on 80 in staggered formation at a, shall we say, persnickety pace, suddenly my Cobra went bonkers with Ka. Dialed my speed down from persnickety to persnuffly, as did Silent who also had a detector. As we rounded the next corner we were staring down the barrel of a CHP radar gun.

Phew....

And don't forget those pesky CHP airplanes.

Yes, Hans, radar is one thing and most of our systems alert us to the very broad Ka band.

It's when you see them parked at a 45 degree angle or standing next to their car aiming a gun-looking device in your direction, they are using LIDAR that broadcasts at such a narrow width your radar detector will probably not alert you....or will alert you that you are about to receive a written verification of your speed. :glare:
