Here's the plan:

THE BASIC DATE:

Saturday, Sept. 30th

THE BASIC PLAN:

Friday, Sept. 29th: Meet in Red Bluff in the afternoon or evening and ride-out Saturday morning at 0900 (or 0700 or 0830 or 1100). Some of you can ride to Red Bluff on Sat. morning, the rest of us.....?? Find your own accommodations, etc. Dinner at????? Breakfast???

Saturday, Sept. 30th: We will ride Hwy 36 from Red Bluff to Hwy 101. Then North on Hwy 101 to Fortuna for the night. If there's time and energy, feel free to explore any of the roadways along the coast and amongst the Redwoods. (Ride the "Lost Coast Loop from Fernbridge. Ride 299 East from Arcata and take 96 North to Happy Camp and turn around. Pick a road, there aren't many bad ones!) Find your own accomodations, etc.

I'm staying at the Travelodge and planning breakfast at the Dennys next door. As usual, the FJR's gas tank will be topped off and ready to ride after breakfast. Yep, my usual, impatient self.

Note: According to Pashnit, clicky here, it takes 4 hours to get to Fortuna (others say 3-3 1/2 hrs.), so plan to snack or lunch accordingly.

Personally, I'm aiming for the Samoa Cookhouse in Eureka for lunch......You know I'm not going to miss a meal! Then do a local ride, ending in Fortuna for the night.

Sunday, Oct. 1: We plan to ride from South through the Humboldt Redwoods and the "Avenue of the Giants", then on to Leggett and take Hwy 1 along the coast through Fort Bragg, etc. After lunch (wherever that may be) we can all take our separate routes home.

THE BASIC RULES:

1.) This is not a "group ride", per se , but a shared adventure using common roads and having a common destination. No "dad" or Ride Master!

2.) We will not be riding en masse, but rather in small groups (Pick your partners--singles, pairs, trios or foursomes ). We'll probably see one another at rest stops/snack stops, etc.

3.) Please keep at least 3 seconds spacing between bikes. Yes, YOU , keep 3 seconds spacing. Watch you 12 as well as your 6.

4.) This is a technical road, so ride your sight-lines and watch your apex and exit lines.

5.) If you are feeling crowded, simply flag the trailing rider around and let him ride a quicker pace.

6.) Ride your own ride!

7.) Have fun, enjoy the great roads, finish the ride and share in the marvelous company.

WARNING: The seasons are changing, bring "layers".

Well, I guessed that everyone would know that gasoline will be a bit more expensive in the remote coastal areas.

I also should have included that I am staying Friday night at the Travelodge in Red Bluff and I'm planning Saturday breakfast at the Dennys next door. Uhm, er, bring money for breakfast and have the gas tank full and ready to ride.

MM2 miss a meal?.....boy I feel sorry for anyone who try that.... :derisive: ....they'd get to see the MAD in Mikey......

Hey BS,

ExSkiBum and I are leaving from Auburn on Friday via hwy 49/89/70, can we meet you in Quincy at about 1200? There is a good sportsbar at the north end of town on the right hand road, I think it is called The Morning Thunder cafe.

Sounds like a plan.

The Morning Thunder cafe is not a sports bar, but it is a great place for lunch or breakfast.

I will be 2-up

IIRC, that's the place we had lunch on our ride up the Feather River Canyon. But then its probably quicker for you, from Woodland, to meet him in Marysville.

Hey, I'm going to crash your party from the north. Plan to ride hwy 3 down from Yreka, Weaverville, Hayfork to hwy36 Sat. morning. Will be on my blue 06, riding buddy on a silver bmw. Hope to hook up with one of the groups heading west. If not, I also reserved a room at the Comfort Inn, maybe a beer or get with you round diner.

Hey Mike! I am going to try to meet up in Red Bluff on friday coming in from LaPine Or. I am tired of this moving crap and I need a break. I will head north from the coast and take 199 inland to Grants Pass if anyone is going that way. See you there.
