Tilly, an X-FJR rider{wrecked '05}, reports from Red Bluff and Fortuna that due to the forest fires in the area, those of you without room reservations should stop at a hotel by 3:00 PM because all the fire fighters are staying in those towns.

He recommended that those of us who did make some plans and have reservations also check in as early as possible - because the proprietors of the motel establishments may be prone to giving rooms to weary fire fighters and ignoring reservations.

Also - 90 degrees in Red Bluff yesterday at noon and 50 degrees in Fortuna at 3:30 P so get ready to change from cool vest to electric vest when you hit the coast.

Does anyone have a linky to the forest fire status? I think they are in the mopping up stage.

I'll bring the marshmallows :p
Hmm...I just put the Vstream on. To Vstream, or not to Vstream...will I boil in central ca?

Hey folks, I'm sad to report that I can not join in the fun this weekend. I'll miss you all, but have a good time and be safe. :sadsmiley02:

If it's +80, yes you will. ;)
And its supposed to by "high 80s" to "low 90s" on Sunday afternoon. I was going to take my Kilimanjaro jacket but I'm now thinking of taking the mesh w/ liner and fleece. The "Killy" just doesn't work for me above 75-80 degrees.

You don't have the killy "air" right? My killy air is good for high temps, especially when I have the evaporative vest on for the heat.

I think I'm going to brave the vstream and will report on its performance. If it is close to killing me, I guess I'll just stand up and get some air.

Sorry to hear you aren't gonna make it Jeff...we'll cya another time!

I am afraid I am going to pass on this one. Karen is leaving for North Carolina Monday and can't spare the time. :( That and a new puppy in the house (long story) that cannot be left alone for such a long period of time.

We will miss you all. Ride safe.

********! The word is that it had something to do with tax deductions. :D

 They are too old for tax deductions but they still cost me! I am now looking after a puppy for one of my ex-deductions.

I hope you all had a great ride and will be reporting in soon. :)

DOH!!! You'll see some of us in Quincy first. Well, at least Cyndi will -- maybe she'll just leave you out on the bike while we dine. :p
But I will see you in Red Bluff

How are the road conditions? I made the trip through about 4 weeks ago and we are going through again this weekend. Just want to make sure everything is cool up there...

road conditions were good. 140 miles of twisties what can I say?
Yeah, the road is awesome. I love riding it. What I meant was the construction still going on where they escort you through. If so, how long were the delays?

Since posting I noticed the ride report and read through it. It doesn't seem like there were any abnormal road conditions to worry about...

Thanks,

Mike

No delays on the weekend. Weekdays could be a different story
