note: VENUE CHANGE!!!

This lunch might take place in Auburn...where I've since been told the actual eatery exists. Too late to change the title. I did say the venue was TO BE ANNONCED.

Okay... we have a venue:

Ikeda's at 13500 Lincoln Way in Auburn.

I will modify the original post to include this info. Time to be announced.

FJRob has a class and can't attend.

What Route to lunch?

Since the meet-to-ride place is Starbucks in El Dorado Hills.....

El Do Hills Blvd. to Salmon Falls Rd, L on Hwy 49 through Cool, R on Old Foresthill Rd., L on Foresthill Rd. to I-80, R to Ikedas....is around 30 miles. Probably about 1 hour+, more if you stop and stretch in Cool.

Alternative:

ElDo Hills Blvd/Salmon Falls Rd to Hwy 49. RIGHT 6 miles to L. on Marshall. Up Marshall Grade, then:

EITHER R on Black Oak Mine Rd. to Hwy 193, L. to Georgetown.....

Or stay on Marshall Rd to Georgetown....

From Georgetown, take 193 to Cool, R. on Hwy 49 down the canyon, R at the stop sign (Old Foresthill Rd.), L at the stop sign (Foresthill Rd.) across the bridge and up the hill to Right at the signal at Linoln Way. 1/2 mile to Ikedas on the right.

This route is about 55 miles...lots of winding roads and grades. Probably 1 1/2 hour-2 hours with no stops....

Any other ideas?????

Well yeah -- are we talking about riding after lunch? IF so, I can lead an hour to two hour loop out to Nevada City adn back to Auburn -- maybe Placer Hills Road to 174 to Grass Valley to McCourtney Road to Lime Kiln and almost back to Grass Valley on 49 to jump off on Dog Bar back to Placer Hills Road and back to Auburn. (Showed Andrew Dog Bar the last time he and I rode FJRs up that way.) Nice uncrowded 2 lane country rolling hills road, mostly twisties on this loop. What's your pleasure for this ride?

Seems to me that I'll get over to the Starbucks via Auburn Folsom and Green Valley early, so as to make that part a loop (seems our meeting ther will be reasonably late with as short as that ride will be). Add my afternoon loop in and we can't be talking about more than 3 to 4 hours total riding.

I'll watch this "discussion" for awhile, but I think you're right, Rich. Take the short ride "there" and by the time everyone dresses-down to eat it will be lunchtime. Then ride after lunch.

That looks like a great afternoon loop Rich. Depending on weather and time Christy and I may stay on with you for that stretch. If Christy gets too cold I'll pay bigtime... read between those lines  . That and riding in these hills at dusk lately is like playing dodgeball with deer! :dribble:

Count us in for the pre-lunch ride and lunch. I am not sure we will have time for the post lunch ride [maybe part-way]. Hmmm . . . I love Ikeda's. Good choice! :clapping:

Any idea what time you'll all be at Ikeda's ??

We'll be trucking it -- Deb's oncologist threw a wobbler when we talked of the impending lunch ride :angry2:

" .... yada, yada ------- low platelet count -- infection -- no, no, NO..."

We intend to be safer than sorry.

Well, I'd nominate 11:30 for lunch for a few reasons. First -- beat the noon crowd on a Saturday. Second, We don't have that long a ride in the morning, so if we were to be on the road from Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, El Dorado Hills or wherever by 10 am, it shouldn't be a problem arriving at Ikedas by 11:30. Third, I'd suggest we hit the road for the afternoon loop no later than 1 pm, so we can get back to Auburn by 2:30 or 3:00 pm and riders can return home in the daylight. Lastly, I have a Christmas Party to go to in Tahoe City that evening, so I have to get back to Auburn early enough to get cleaned up and on the road in my car to T.C.

Roger, how about 12-ish. No use waiting for "the group" and then waiting for them to "undress". It seems much better to plan for the "walking wounded" (Medically deficient? Cippled, lame and halt?) to watch them from inside the restaurant.....

.....after having ordered and be eating. :yahoo:

AttaBoy Mike - it's always easier to wait for folks when you are warm, comfortable, and fed...

SOooo, you mock my irreverance! I can picture them discussing "group riding" while the last rider pulls up 15 minutes late and needing gas. Then one of the group will ask to borrow a map, and....... Whooo, Boy!

Yep, I'll be sitting in the warm restaurant enjoying lunch with the Rogdeb's :D .......................

and laughing! :yahoo:

Some might scoff at my smirking of your mocking of irreverance.

Please add my name to the list. :clapping: I am busy in the morning ,so I will find you at the restaurant before you leave for the afternoon ride. I look forward to meeting several of you, and hopefully I will learn how to remember your names  .....a daunting task for the uninitiated.

Alan

Done. Oh no...does that mean I have to bring the name tags? Seriously, ALan, welcome to the social hour. This is the best time to meet the group...before there's a gaggle of 25 or so. I'll add your name to the 1st post. See below for earlier estimated time.

ATTENTION: LUNCH @ 11:30

So you dawdlers, slowpokes and late-comers, get your groove on.

Might I suggest leaving Starbucks ASAP? I know most of you arrive early and are ready to go... The rest probably know the route and roads...or they will.

Good idea, Rich. I also have been invited to the company Christmas Party that evening. Imagine that, almost 3 months off work and they still want me around! Some people have a great tolerance for those of us who don't play well with others.
