I thought NAFO was in CA, for California?… Oooooh, CA also means Canada. Sorry, maybe next time. I set out on a CA (California) Heartland ride to Northern California. I hope all yall at NAFO had a great time up there! Plenty of sunshine and warmth in NorCal/Reno, NV.

This trip was a tad shorter as my son graduated from high school, so I got off a little late and we came home a little early, so I could recoup form my vacation before work. This was a two-pronged getaway. We wanted to ride and go to the 17th annual Blues Brews and BBQ sponsored by the El Dorado Casino in Reno, NV. They close off Virginia Street between 3rd and 5th and its a huge party of micro brews, BBQ and two stages for Blues, it didnt disappoint.

We arrived in Reno on Sunday late afternoon. Monday we took the scenic route to Lake Almanor aka LA (sorry no pix form there just lots of rest and a ride to Eagle Lake. See my pix of LA from last year) Hwys; 80 20 49 Marysville Rd many misc roads to Hwy 162 - Quincy 70 89 A143 A13 - LA

Our first stop on Hwy 20 a little rest stop, if you blink youll miss it, there are no signs.

Heres beautiful New Bullards Bar Dam we had trouble here with other bikers… Yes, again Tyler!

Were minding our own business photographing the scenery when we heard motorcycles with aftermarket pipes, we thought HD riders. They slow from the road, pull into the dirt parking lot, we hear the gravel crunching under their tires. They stop, get off their bikes, take off their little helmets, and all hell broke loose.

Scroll down for the carnage.

Its SactoMike and friends! Great seeing you there Mike and meeting your gang. ;) They just pulled in, what a hoot for a SoCal guy to run into NorCal forum members in the middle of nowhere!

Here we are on Hwy 162 just went over the cool suspension bridge, like a mini Golden Gate.

This is the road to Eagle Lake just north west of Susanville, CA. Great view at the top!

Nice ride report and good that you ran into some local color. You just never know where SacMike might show up. I laughed at your last picture!

When were you up here? My guess is you had much better weather than the NAFO people.

Just got home yesterday I was there June 18-23.

Thanks Tom, I updated the title.

When I ran into Mike, he mentioned they were riding with others that peeled off for NAFO.

We had just turned east and left MM2, Joseph (MCML), Sam (Nightshine) with his son Sean, and Don Carver to head towards the rain. NorCal has been gorgeous, and better now than then, even, since it's cooled down at least 15 or 20 degrees!

That was Gary (GFran) and his wife Cindy (I call her CFran) with me when we met up with Simon and his bud.

You Canadians should think about planning your next CFR here in Cali. Weather's much nicer. Heck, you could even hold it in the winter!

Glad you had a good time up here Simon!

Hope to catch you on your next run through here for lunch or something (preferably not at a Harley criminal bar)

Also what was happening here? Was the woman in blue running around thinking she is a pretty butterfly?

Bullards Bar is not even close to the middle of nowhere, however Eagle Lake is.

Nice report, you never know what FJR lurks around the corner in NorCal.

Nice report. I ran into your buddy (Cort?) at the Long Beach swap meet last month. Was it hot in Reno? I am going to ride up there with the wife in a few weeks so she can attend the AMA womens conference.

Sam - Yes she was thinking something like that. Many women were acting rather silly which happens when they consume to much beverages. Most were not worthy of any pix... well maybe beemerdons and Old Michael would dance with them... :dribble: The guy in the motorized wheel chair was also bopping/dancing around with his two muts. I guess that lady liked that.

Northern Cal, huh?

Simon. Are you retired?
No, but I'd like to be! ;)

Cort lives about 3 minutes form there so he frequents it often.
Weather was near perfection! A little warm in some spots, but the wind did kick up, never had winds like this all over especially on 70 and 395 into Reno, mucho windy. :assassin:

The Womens AMA conference is in Carson City, correct? Should be a tad warm when you go, but do all these grades from Carson City area; Kingsbury Hwy (near Minden, NV), Hwy 50 and Mount Rose Hwy (Mt. Rose is closer to Reno, but that's only a few minutes away). All lead to Tahoe but what a kick! :yahoo:

Enjoy and you and Andrea ride safe. ;)
