I determined my posting trouble was Windows 7 / IE11 related. Downloaded and installed FireFox and all is well.
Well, ya know... I was at the NH DMV site anyway so for giggles I punched in that plate 'number' and it came in as (still) AVAILABLE. If you put in antisocial abbreviations or antisocial words the site will tell you that is not available. What the heck, go for itI was just searching for a new plate for my Jeep. It seems that FYYFF has not been taken yet, but I don't think I could slip it by the state without a good explanation.
Yeah, that was what I was doing to check the "initial plates" also. I decided that the spending of an extra $40 a year to have a catchy, memorable license plate number was not that great an idea. That will just make it easier for motorists to remember it after I blaze past them on a double yellow (yeah, in a Jeep?) or some such.Well, ya know... So ... what's stoppin' ya?This new state line tag greatly favors us North Easterners where we can cross just about any state line in so little time...
State line sign is a long haul from Miami, FL or Brownwood, TX.
Or maybe knowing you have an easy to remember plate will keep your juvenile tendencies in check? That will just make it easier for motorists to remember it after I blaze past them on a double yellow (yeah, in a Jeep?) or some such.
Not much anymore. Just got cleared by my surgeon (this morning) to get back to doin' normal stuff. So ... what's stoppin' ya?This new state line tag greatly favors us North Easterners where we can cross just about any state line in so little time...

As I'm sure you know, that's not likely.Or maybe knowing you have an easy to remember plate will keep your juvenile tendencies in check? That will just make it easier for motorists to remember it after I blaze past them on a double yellow (yeah, in a Jeep?) or some such.
I thought you'd say "The weather."Not much anymore. Just got cleared by my surgeon (this morning) to get back to doin' normal stuff. So ... what's stoppin' ya?This new state line tag greatly favors us North Easterners where we can cross just about any state line in so little time...

Google maps. Now *that's* smart.I was google mapping the borders yesterday looking for a target location to snag a state welcome sign. Most of the byways just have a little marker and no "welcome." The big "Bienvenue" to New Hampshire" signs only seem to be on the sides (or worse, medians) of the major interstates, which don't provide much of a safe photo-op stopping situation.
I did find one 2 lane state road that has a smaller welcome sign (at least it did back in 2012) so if the weather relents here long enough for a 1/2 hour ride I could nab this one:
But with the rain falling at or near freezing today, that says it will have to wait 'till tomorrow (at least).
Or I could drive there and bring along a motorcycle mirror...
That's what I've done with my challenges. As I'm out riding around I'll see something and think "That'd be good for next time I need something." The chimney without the house was desperation when I was within a mile of my home and wanting to be there before the rain started. You guys are putting way too much effort into this. So far all of the times I've grabbed the tag and then posted a new tag, I just went for a ride and found something I thought appropriate. For me, at least, that's the point, just ride.
Sure, the ride is most important, but like many other things the planning and anticipation can be almost as much fun as the actual doing. This being a shared game, I like to have an idea of where I'm going to find what I want, not just to satisfy the old tag but to get an interesting new one. If you just leave it to chance (whatever you happen across) you'll end up with some pretty boring, uninspired tags. You guys are putting way too much effort into this. Fred, I grabbed these while out on a different game I'm playing on Facebook called the Fire and Ice Winter mini tour. I've been out getting pics of my bike and flag in towns with names related to fire or ice. I've been using Google maps quite a bit.Sure, the ride is most important, but like many other things the planning and anticipation can be almost as much fun as the actual doing. And a few minutes messing with Google Maps isn't all that much effort.
