Northern CA - Tire Friendly shop

I live in Chicago and am planning on riding out to see the redwoods mid-September. I've got good rubber but not enough for a round trip, but don't want to waste what I have.

I'd like to be able to arrange a visit to a shop and get a pair PR3 Bs spooned on.

Any suggestions for a motorcycle friendly shop to visit?

Any other ideas for must stops/see's are appreciated.

I've only experienced great service at Roseville Yamaha, but if you're not coming down that far south (Sacramento) then hopefully someone farther up north can help. Ping FarWest Eddie, he's in Eureka and might have a good referral for you.

If you are coming through Oregon then our own FJRay in La Pine Oregon is the man. He has a great mc shop with tire equipment. I have had tires from Motorcyclesuperstore shipped to him prior to my arrival and Bam-new rubber!

He is a prince of a guy and his wife Patty is a damn fine cook as well as an even finer person.

You won't be sorry.

If FJ Ray can't help the Yamaha Dealer in Bend did me right on a set of PR4's. His price on the tires was cheaper than MC Superstore by a few bucks and he didn't rape he on the install either, about 15$ more than Ray charges as I recall.

I have purchased from Pro Caliber Powersports in Bend OR with no sales tax and beaten the best internet prices, then had Ray do the install. Great.

In Sacramento the Capital Yamaha on Auburn Blvd did changes for $25 per wheel, and less if you buy from them. Call and they will match any internet price. Buy the tires with the price match, and the install is less inexpensive.

There's a place I can recommend in Sunnyvale depending on where in NorCal you'll be seeing the redwoods... lots of them around here.

I pull my own and take them to Lee's Kawasaki Honda here in Redding. They have an express service, usually about an hour or so, and they charge about 50 bucks IIRC. Don't know what they charge for on the bike.

As for must see's, post up your route and how flexible you are on it so we know where to send ya.

I was just there on Thursday!!! I should have stopped for the same picture. The hwy 36 to hwy 3 to hwy 299 to I5 loop is incredible!!!

Spoke to Lee's in Redding this morning and have a pair of PR4s lined up.

Really appreciate all the help.

I am heading straight for Redding. Get out there and mess around in NorCal for a few days. Then head up 5 to Seattle and spend a couple days out near Cape Flattery.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Avoid 5.

Stay on 3, to Yreka, north on 263 to 96, west on 96 to Happy Camp where you turn north and head to 199, west on 199, turn north on 197 hit 101/1 and head for Washington. Enjoy the roads they are bucket list roads.

If you have the time, first ride 36 from Redding to the coast, go north on 101 to 299 and go east to 3 north.

Had a fantastic couple of weeks on the road.

I had ordered tires from Lee's Honda in Redding. Super nice guys and really took care of me.

Loved 36, the redwoods, 199 along the Smith up to Crater Lake. And continued on. Thanks for all the help guys.
