Rode the Quincy Oroville Rd a couple of weeks ago. It's closed at Mountain House which is about 3/4 of the way down. Because the road is closed, we saw maybe 3 other cars. Like having your own personal race track. Sublimeness.

I'm doing a ride-in for a Laam seat in a couple days from San Jose. The weather appears to be in a "warming trend". Do I just slurp water and blast up the slab or is there a cooler, more scenic route?

Sorry Mike. "A couple of days from now" still looks like over 100o. At least you're not planning to go tomorrow. The forecast highs range between 108 and 111! No matter what coastal route you try, Redding is a long way inland (and the roads between the coast and there, while fun, are not real fast. Too many damn turns.

(But scenic, yes. 36 or 299!)

No cooler route. Try for a cooler time. Like overnight. Good luck. And you'll like the seat.

Edit: I forgot--Redding. California Hell. I was thinking of balmy Sacramento. Redding's in for 112o the next two days, then cooling to only 109o on Friday, your travel day. Ugh.

This week has been horrible with these 100 plus degree days, but next week is looking cooler. Thinking about doing a ride to Bodega Bay for lunch on Tuesday 5/27 if anyone is interested.

Again with the middle of the week. I would love to go if not for that.

Sorry, but with my shift work I have Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday off. Hopefully my schedule might be changing and I would be able to have a weekend day to plan rides.

Besides this what sick days are for.

Sac Mike,

Kinda what I thought.

I'm heading up Friday Am so I will beat the heat. Ride-in appt is Sat morning.

Heading home after that will be the challenge.

- Mike

I like weekdays better. Smaller crowds and less traffic.

I think this work thing is over rated.

Now if we could do something about this heat.

SacMike,

In Redding and it's 107. I saw 111 on the bike earlier. Dropped my seats off and he gave me a loaner set. He will do some of the work tonight and try and get me out ASAP tomorrow.

I'm cutting over on 36 heading home tomorrow. Cool and scenic on my new seat is gonna be the ticket for me.

I rode the Quincy to La Porte yesterday. It is open all the way. I had zero cars in front of me from Quincy to Marysville road. That is 65 miles of curvy heaven.

Going to ride that road again next week to visit my parents who are staying at an RV park up there. I love that road.
