Got new tires yesterday and immediately noticed an incredible difference in the way the bike handled! Almost like it was not the same bike it was before. Replaced the Dunlop Roadsmarts with the new Bridgestone for no other reason than I wanted something different. Just contemplate a turn and it seems to go on its own. Incredible difference, and I had no issues with the Dunlops I got 11k miles out of the Dunlops and believe it or not, the front wore out before the rear! We,ll see how long these new stones last as they,re being advertised as totally new from the OEM battlax that came with the 08 bike

Jim my used 08 came with the 021 stones, and the front was badly cupped. The rear is actually doing okay with about 5200 on it.

Replaced the front with a 023 also. But did u know? they come in 2 versions. The one specifically sold for the Feej is the 023 GT (for Grand Touring). It supposedly is a stronger side wall and possibly more belts... not positive on all the details.

My 023 GT front is doing fantastic, it's an awesome tire. I do need to back off on my front settings, have them all at 6. For my weight that's just stiff as a board (but emergency braking rocks! no dive at all). The tire is very stable, got some twisty riding in this AM and more and more... it's just really solid.

You did great with your dunlops, that's fantastic mileage. I need to put a powerlet on the bike so it will be easier to be sure I always have 42 in them... it's just too easy of an excuse when u don't have a powerlet.

even from people who haven't tried them but heard it on the 'net, but I gotta tell ya,

no tire made me fell more like hero than the 'Stones.

Aside from their short life, 3.5K for fronts, 7k for rears. I found the straight-line stability

( no wobble, ever ), easy turn-in, stick in corners and overall feedback to be the best

of all the tires I've tried, including Metzelers, Dunlops and Michelins.

I'm currently riding on Michelins because I simply can't afford more than one set of

tires a year, no matter how good they are.

Bought my used 09 with original Stone 021's with 4800 miles. The front was toast and steering very heavy. Replaced it with a PR2. Just like you an immediate noticable improvement. The original 021 rear now has 7200 miles on it and likely has about 2000 miles remaining. The rear rides well too. I think the lesson here is the FJR places large demands on the front and when the tire shows wear, steering response is diminished. Not sure what the best tire is but I'll be looking for a long mileage performance front tire. I'll see how long my new PR2 lasts.

My previous bike was a 2000 Concours. There were basically 2 choices - Dunlop 204 or Avon Storm/Azaro. Major cupping on the Dunlops and I changed to the Avons after 5000 miles. Loved the Avons on the Concours and intended to use them on my 2006 FJR at the first change. My service guy talked me into trying the Bridgestone 23 and so far so good. After 1000 miles performance is as good as the Avons, tar snakes are no problem, and I take corners with confidence. While power is up on the FJR, I would be disappointed with less than 11,000 to 13,000 miles from any Sport touring tire and my riding style. I keep a close watch on tire pressures - 39 front and 42 rear and are smooth with my throttle and clutch. More later.

 
Ok I'll wade in. I've ran 020,021, 002, 003, and now 023 on the front. Car tire on the back right now. The 020 and 021's were awful. Sucked all round. The 002 and 003 are race compound. They rocked!! only lasted 7000kms though. The new 023 on my front is at about 7000kms right now and I hope to make it home from NAFO on it. So far I like it. It's wearing well and feels really good in the corners. I'll let ya know how I make out with it in a couple of weeks.

ps my back tire is a Bridgestone Potenza Grid and has stuck to the road like glue.
