So Kawasaki intro'd the new 2011 ZX-10R, then it mysteriously went "on hold" and off sale, with no explanation at all... Strange...

Today it's revealed that they replaced all the camshafts, valve springs, and spring retainers on all the bikes to prevent a valve spring surging problem, that apparently happens mainly during racing.

That's the way to be proactive about a problem. I think this cost some bucks, and I'm impressed they did it. I have to give 'em some props.

That's impressive these days. Seems the new norm is to just release the bikes and quietly fix the few that come in broken.

My guess is they did it so their ***** wouldn't be sued.

There have been plenty of problems that Mommi Kawi didn't/haven't addressed and some known/continuing problems they won't cover any more:

-plastic oil gear

-1700cc stalling

-1500 2nd gear/tranny damage

-C14 parts falling off & tire sensor failure

Etc., etc. One thing done right doesn't make for a good corporation looking out for you. They're in it for the money just like every other Inc.

pessimist :p
Maybe yes, maybe no. I like to think of myself as a realist- that's an optimist who is never disappointed :D . Actually I bought a Kawi 800 in '04 and traded for a 1500 in '05. Sold it to buy my FJR but I'm still an active member of a large Kawi forum b/c of the friends I met thru it. So I get to hear of all the problems/arguments/complaints with the big horrible corporation. It's no different than here or with HD or BMW or Honda or ...

OK... Kawasaki's the one Japanese brand I haven't owned yet, except for borrowing a friend's Ninja 900 for a couple months way-back-when. I know early ZX-11s had 2nd gear problems, but that was a long time ago too. So I'm out of the loop.
