When I'm cruisin' on the FJR my 4th and 5th fingers of my throttle hand go numb.

The height and width of the bars seem to put my elbow in a position that must put pressure on a nerve that causes this. I don't think it's pressure on the wrist because I have a VFR that I can ride all day with no problem, and the clip-ons are much lower than the FJR'S. It's frustrating because my wife and I bought the the bike to take long rides together on it.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions or solutions?

relax your grip bro

Get a throttle rocker. I just got back from a 300 mile ride, and had no problem with the throttle hand. The throttle rocker makes it possible to maintain speed without having to tightly grip the throttle. Just set it to the place where it holds the desired speed just by the weight of your hand. I've had one on my 03 FJR since it was new. Cost is around 10 bucks.

I had the same problem at first. I put risers on, and got some contoured grips. Problem solved!

I have all variety of back and neck issues (being an old bastard and all... ) what I've learned to do is to focus a part of myself on the message "relax" - specifically, hands, arms and shoulders. Press your shoulders DOWN. Open your hands. Spread your elbows wide...

Then, when all that sh*t fails - go get bar risers.

:D

Your regimen will vary, as the FJR requires some ergonomic tweakage for most folks. My solution:

***foam grip covers--increased diameter over the hard stock grips opens and relaxes hands and cushions vibes

***LenkAdapter risers--shift bars forward or back to suit your arm length and preferred body postion, adjust for what your wrists like

***ThrottleMeister--for the longer straight stretches

'agreed' some sort of throttle locker or cruise. ya gotta relax the gas hand. grips or bar-ends arent gonna do it bro.

You can also disconnect one of the throttle return springs. A procedure that is described somewhere in this forum and others...Sorry, I'm too lazy to find a linky for ya! B)

I put Motorcycle Larry 6' risers on. I need to change grips. Olympic Gel Gloves eased my hand problems. TJ

Relax as per above posts. Change your hand position and the way you hold the throttle. Even to a point where you are holding the throttle with thumb and fore finger. move the position often. This has worked for me and my elderly hand {also worked when my hands were a lot younger}
