Number 311 is on the road. No muss, no fuss, no waiting. Please don't hate me. My local Yamaha dealer got a few "extra" '06 FJR's in last week. So I bought one today, number 311. Rode about 90 miles on it this afternoon. WOW, it rocks. Great handling, brakes, suspension and speed. Can't wait to put more miles of smiles on it.

Cheers,

Richard C.

See you somewhere down a twisty road.................... :yahoo: :yahoo:

Congrats Richard!

I just got mine yesterday. I have about 30 miles on it so far. Doesn't look like I will get to ride it today due to the weather. DO you know any other FJR riders in your neck of the woods? I am a few hours away. The wife and I plan to ride up to the Gatlinburg area as soon as I can get her a backrest. Are you planning a trip to Deals Gap any time soon?

Hello from middle TN. :thumbsupsmiley: Sounds like a consensus for a group ride may be building. If so, and other TN folk are invited to tag along, give us a holler.

S M R,

Congrats. Got mine at Sloan’s bout a month ago. Where did you buy?

nlife,

My wife wants a backrest too. Have already installed the throtttlemeister control/weights. Am looking forward to hearing about the new windshields.

I’m probably one of the least knowledgeable folks on the board. But, just guessing, he may be talking about the last 3 digits of his serial number.

By the way, noticed on another thread (about tranny’s) you said, “I remember my '73 Yammie would do the same thing once and a while.” Just curious, was it a RD 350 :yahoo: ?

Larry,

Don't know any other local FJR riders yet, but have seen a few around.

The store at Deal's Gap is only 40 miles from my house. Makes for a nice after work ride now that the days are longer. :D

Let me know what kind of backrests you find, as my wife will hardly ride without one.

Cheers,

Richard

Check the last numbers of your bikes serial number. It's on the manufactures label on the right side of the headstock. The label also shows the month and year it was made, along with other info.

+1 - How do I find out what "number" my bike is?

It was a DT 360 (360 cc, least until I bored it a few over. Nice thing about a single cylinder is that you can replace the head out back in the driveway without an assistant. Fancy that with an FJR, just changing the battery looks pretty intimidating to me, but I guess I'll get back into it.) Loved that bike, but it was quirky. The RD was much nicer mannered, and qucker on the street, my buddy had one. In those days, we thought a 650 cc was monstrous.

Thanx - I wanted somebody to confirm where the bike number came from.

Reason is, the last 3 digits on my bike are 007.

And that leaves me (and everyone else on this site) wondering how Yamaha's PDP program works.

I didn't order my bike until OCT 28. Lots of folks on this forum claim to have ordered theirs in September (although the way I remember it, PDP site didn't actually work before Oct 15).

So how is it I got such a low number?

I deliberately waited to order. I didn't want a low production number. Most manufacturers work out the production glitches on the low serial number machines...
