Does anyone know if the Oark General Store will be open next Monday on Labor Day? And if so, what hours? I emailed them a week ago but didn't get a response. If you have a contact other than the email on their website, that would be great! I was shocked they had a website.

Since Pig trail is closed north of Cass, it adds a lot of miles to our route, but if they are open I feel obliged to try their pie!

If they're open, it's worth quite a few miles of altered route to eat there. Lunch, with pie for dessert, and maybe another piece of pie just to make sure.

Photos when you get back, please.

Uh, google has a phone number listed....

Open 7 days a week starting at 8am.

Duh. Sure enough, it comes right up in Google. Sorry for the dumb question. I really didn't see that when I searched and the website doesn't show their number. Good news, though.

50 miles for pie!

On one trip, riding my Gen 1, I decided to try it from the Oark store. I made it about a half mile and turned around. That is no fjr road

Thanks, Pants. I won't be trying that then. Still hoping to pass through Oark on Monday. Tons of bikes in Harrison tonight.

Was at Oark yesterday and Yes they will definitely be open Monday. Also, there is a one lane gravel/dirt 'path' that you can use to get past the slideout on 23. It is only about a couple hundred yards long and the VFR1200 made it fine.

Hey Arkansas riders, I just heard on Ft. Smith radio... allegedly, part of the Pig Trail washed out and they said it's closed near Mulberry Mountain. I think this is just north of where 215 meets 23.

I'm not a big Pig Trail fan, because there's always so much traffic on it... but I wanted to give a heads up.

I've still never stopped at that store for the blasted pie. I'm always too busy having a rider-gasm on 103 and 215.

It's worth a pause in the rider-gasm. Refresh, refill, eat pie, back to riding. And the blasted pie isn't what you want, it's the buttermilk pie.

I made it back safe. I didn't take a lot of pics but I may still do a full trip report just to rave about the roads. I had high hopes, but they still surpassed my expectations.

I'll use this thread to update on just the Pig Trail closure and the pie at Oark.

Here is the "dirt/gravel" road around the slide on the pig trail

That last part requires you to have a little speed, but it's not too bad.

But here is our just desserts or maybe just our desserts at Oark

And my nephew's

I figured with 23 closed, the Oark General Store would be empty in the afternoon. We had to park behind the building because there were so many cars there. And several bikes.

It doesn't look like much, but it's a happenin' place. We shared a table with a local from Ozark and his food looked great. We couldn't eat anything heavy on that hot afternoon, but we sure enjoyed the pie.

It's ok, the surrounding roads will wear you out, so you can work off the pie very easily and not worry about the diet.
