My dirt bike background makes me wonder if the stock OEM shock can be rebuilt, revalved, resprung to make it mo better for much less cost than an aftermarket (Wilber) shock?

I've had excellent results with non factory shops rebuilding MX shocks on a variety of bikes.. each custom configured for weight, riding ability, type of riding, etc.

Why not street shocks?

No, it's a sealed unit and not rebuildable.

Get a Wilber like a fair number of folks here have and that thing is completely rebuildable.

Don't discount Penske either. A chunk of change less than Ohlins, and built one at a time to your needs.

The 8981 is around $725, has a remote resevoir (non-emulsion shock) and full adjusters.
