Tell me, oy! I did a quick check of 9,000 SF houses in my hood... lowest I found was 8 mil and it's a fixer. :blink:TWN the housing cost differential is truly amazing. My wife is from a small town in N Cali, Lafayette. When her father died we sold his house for 450,000. That was in 96. It was 2,200 feet built in 1960. I wouldn't have given a plug nickle for it. Her Aunt and Uncle lived in the hills of Berzerkley and we sold that home for for 475,000. It was only1800 sq ft. Now that was a great view. You could see Oakland, the Bay bridge, S.F., Alcatraz, Golden Gate, Sausilito, Martinez. It was an unbelievable view. But take away the view and you wouldn't get 85,000 for the house here. And the quality of construction was less than optimal. But, its all about the location.

Now you're talking. "A shop that is bigger than the house" My kind of guy.Just had to add mine. 1500sq. ft. house. 1700 sq. ft. shop and a 720 sq. ft. barn on two acres. Both paid for so no mortgage pymt. The taxes are 1800 per year, I get free coffee from a customer and I haven't had a hair cut in 20 yrs. :yahoo:
I'm just a little offended Axe! I only have a 1260 sq. ft tiny shitbox :angry:My day started off getting a letter from the village telling me that the tax assessment on my 1300 square foot little shitbox of a house is going to go from a 2006 value of $646,000 to a 2007 value of $1,096,000. :glare: Factoring that out, I figure that every time I cut my grass last summer I increased the value on my house by $22,000.00. I then strolled across the street and got a small cup of coffee...$1.35. Since I couldn't make it to the barber without getting gas I stopped to get some regular petrol at Hess...$2.62/gallon. A quick drive to Vinny the Chop for a haircut....$17.00. Living in some other area of the US...Priceless.
And still some of my customers have the balls to bitch when they get a bill....Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
