Could try inserting one of those steel spring loaded butterfly wing expanding drywall mounting things. Grip the screw thread and use a slide hammer action while turning. Might work Good luck.

That wouldn't have worked - too light. However, the gizmo my neighbor had worked on a similar idea.

Maybe I should post a picture of it in case anyone else ever does this......nah, nobody's that stupid!!

Glad it worked out Al. I didn't think there would be enough room under the bushing to get a hold of...now we know.

You're right, there wasn't much room and the Teflon coating didn't help, which is why we wrecked the bushing. Luckily, I had stopped driving the bushing when I realized my screw up, so it wasn't bottomed out.
