Same old boring ****, OM.

Please, bore us with as many more boring pictures as you have, and as much more boring, pointless commentary as you can possibly contrive.

Or else Petey will show up on your doorstep and ring your door bell. When you answer, he'll give you a ninja-style jimmy kick. You'll never know what hit you.

:D

:drinks:

Thanks for the entertaining comments, compadres.

Greatly appreciated.

I'll get this finished tonight after work, I hope. (Ends with a bang.)

Hudson, we MUST have a drink sometime.

You are OUT THERE. Which is good.

Bust is obviously PWU! Posting While Ugly!
Don. You're being awfully hard on the Beaver, don't you think?

That is, after all, his best side.

Michael - Excellent and entertaining post as always. So where's the rest of the pix???

Bikerscopy.jpg

I recognize the three clowns on the left, but who's that ugly chick on the right?

I must admit, after I saw you in June and you hadn't posted any fotoshop pix of me I thought you forgot. Now I see you've been hard at work. I'll have to dig up some of my shots of you for future use. ;)

Geez, I suck.

Finally finishing this thing.

It's Saturday morning, and we're going for a ride.

His Hole-iness, Beemerdons would be leading the flock this day.

I think there were about 16 of us (a guess!), and at first, as the group gathered,

I was concerned about riding with so many folks with whom I had no riding history.

Turned out fine.

Though our route was stunningly scenic, it involved nothing too demanding.

Almost no traffic, perfect weather, a relaxed pace, ...and not a ******** in the group.

Just minutes from the hotel, we of course stopped at the Gorge.

(Beemerdons can't pass a big crack without stopping to examine it.)

IMG_0353XXXXX.jpg

I didn't actually get any pics of the chasm, but here are some shots of forumites.

Joe's ride.

ABBEY LOAD?

IMG_0359XXXXX.jpg

Worry not. The friggin' bridge sprung back into shape

when they got the hell off.

IMG_0358XXXXX.jpg

Phil and Charlene. Great folks!

IMG_0366XXXXX.jpg

Back on the road.

IMG_0841XXX.jpg

The area right next to Taos is fairly flat, but beautiful in its own way.

Like Sacramento Mike.

IMG_0834XXXX.jpg

Somebody dances while riding. Fun to watch!

IMG_0835XXXXX.jpg

Hay! Let's turn.

IMG_0844XXXXX.jpg

Gas stop. A line at the men's room. Honest.

Our RallyBastard, Big-D!

IMG_0845XXXXX.jpg

And into the mountains and the first signs of autumn.

IMG_0849XXX.jpg

You had to be there. Clean and fresh.

IMG_0854XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0863XXXX.jpg

Left it in 4th, just rolling on and off.

Listening to Neil Young.

Big birds flying

Across the sky

Leave us helpless...

IMG_0857XXXXX.jpg

On a summit. (Not sure the name.)

The tourist train had stopped, and we mingled with our fellow travelers.

IMG_0371XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0373XXXXX.jpg

Damn. There's enough white fur to build a coupla Santa suits. :D

IMG_0384XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0394XXXXX.jpg

Guy on the right took a swing at me.

IMG_0386XXXXX.jpg

I jumped on the train to get a few pictures.

Check out the dude on the left. I'm sure he torched a fattie as soon as

the train was underway.

IMG_0397XXXXX.jpg

I picked up a Christmas gift for Dr. Rich here.

IMG_0370XXXXX.jpg

Daniel and Don, wary of the cow-catcher.

Beemerdon and Niehart contributed to the restoration of this fine machine, I'm told.

How about some details, Papa Chuy?

IMG_0367XXXXX.jpg

We all waited to see the train depart.

IMG_0410XXXXX.jpg

And off we went.

IMG_0412XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0877XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0896XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0902XXXX.jpg

IMG_0905XXXXX.jpg

We stopped again for lunch,...

IMG_0911XXXXX.jpg

though many of us just had....

PIE!

Niehart - "Schwing!!!"

IMG_0912XXXXX.jpg

My homey Steve (Bluestreek), went with the apple.

IMG_0913XXXX.jpg

Ha! I say "went with".

He unbuttoned his britches, turned his hat around backwards, and

10 seconds later, he was licking the bowl.

Back to the motorcycling stuff.

IMG_0914XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0915XXXX.jpg

I failed to get a lot of "action" shots.

IMG_0916XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0930XXXXX.jpg

Just before we arrived back at Taos, I bailed on the group (with permission)

and poked around at some roadside points of interest.

IMG_0436XXXXX.jpg

Looks like Galaxy Blue's back door at the hotel. :D

IMG_0423XXXXX.jpg

The day before, I'd seen this work by Taos artist Ed Sandoval ...

Sandovalpaintingthree.jpg

...and when I saw this, just off the road, I wondered...

IMG_0414XXXXX.jpg

I remember when these were not uncommon on the road.

Michael,

Which Canon model camera do you currently use? It was seen in several of your shots, but couldn't tell which one you've got!

When I got back to the Kachina, I might have nodded off in my room.

Can't say for sure.

So, I missed the group photo. By the time I scurried over to the

patio for dinner, I'd missed some stuff.

I did see everyone giggling, ...and this group breaking up.

Hope I didn't miss some girl-on-girl action? :D

IMG_0936XXXXX.jpg

Just sayin'.

Only got a few snaps of the evening. There are many more better ones on the other

threads.

IMG_0940XXXXX.jpg

Some of the guys can't spend much time away from what stirs them...

IMG_0943XXXX2copy.jpg

I really wish I'd gotten more photos of all of the great folks

who attended.

IMG_0946XXXXX.jpg

And I really wish I'd mingled more, and gotten to know more forum members.

I vow to do better next time.

Well, the next couple of days weren't good ones for me. I'll try keep it brief.

I'd badly miscalculated the remaining mileage in my PR2's. I should have put on new rubber

before I left Northern California.

But, I didn't.

And my run across the southwest had taken more of a toll than I'd expected.

So, I was in a small town in Northern New Mexico, on a Saturday night, with freaking

bald-assed tires.

HotRodZilla and Patch advised me that R & S Sports in Albuquerque was my best bet.

But, like I said. It was Saturday night.

I decided to to spend Sunday in Taos, walking the streets.

Stayed another night at the Kachina Best Western.

Sunday.

Sure.

IMG_0443XXXXX.jpg

A few attendees had yet to leave town.

IMG_0445XXXXX.jpg

IMG_0447XXXXX.jpg

As if women EVER cooperated... :D

IMG_0467XXXXX.jpg

Monday morning, I took off early, so as to be at R & S when they opened.

Nothing too exciting about the ride to Albuquerque.

Saw this Lotus. I've never owned one.

IMG_0955XXXXX.jpg

Wwwwwwwwell, of course motorcycle shops in Albuquerque are closed on Mondays.

So that's two days of my too-short vacation burned because I was an ***** and left

home on ****** rubber. I couldn't even enjoy riding around the area, because my Michelins

were VERY bad, and I didn't want to risk a failure.

So, another day of this ...

IMG_0956XXXXX.jpg

...in Albuquerque. (HRZ had generously suggested I call him if I was in town and needed

anything, but I understand he was busy helping out another brother. Didn't want to overwhelm him.)

So, now it's goddamned TUESDAY.

I'm at the bike shop at 0900. Great guys.

They had PR2's for a great price.

Very reasonable labor.

Out in just over an hour!

IMG_0958XXXXX.jpg

Thank you R & S Sports.

(And thanks Patch and HRZ for the advice.)

So, now I'm grumpy at myself.

The weatherdude says there are heavy thunderstorms on the way.

1 to 2 inches of rain possible in Taos. Southern Colorado and Utah can

expect similar stuff in places.

I ponder my options, and decide I'll head home and spend my remaining days off just

enjoying local roads....where it's sunny and dry.

I hit the road about 1100.

IMG_0470XXXXX.jpg

If I was in California, I could split that...

I was home sometime before 0400 the next morning.

Golly, a fellow can make pretty good time out here in the west.

Slept in.

I'm so glad I went to SWFOG.

Thank you Big-D!

Thank you beemerdons!

Thank you forum!

Another Amazing Ride Report and Great Photographs from you Old Michael; As Always! Bravo! SW-FOG 2010 was such a blast, I can hardly wait for SW-FOG 2011. My eyes did get arc burned from Bungie's white legs though. Wish DickChin Bust would have been there!

FOOTNOTE: I had mistakenly told you that Niehart worked as my Fitter when I brazed up the steam pipes on Baldwin Locomotive #488 when she was new at the factory in 1888: I just remembered, it was SacramentoMike who was my Apprentice on that job.

Our own Niehart was my Fitter Apprentice when I re-tubed the boiler back in 1926. Brother Dave, old Number 488 is still running strong and her steam pipes are still sound; we did some damn fine steam fitting on that retrofit!! Good Job there, Mr. Black!!!

Or else Petey will show up on your doorstep and ring your door bell. When you answer, he'll give you a ninja-style jimmy kick.
I have a peephole,...and a carbon-fiber cup.

Which Canon model camera do you currently use?
PM sent.

"Looks like Galaxy Blue's back door at the hotel" made me blow a litte beer though my nose.
Hope you caught it in your mug.

So many responses... so little time... ;)
Don't start with me, smart-***. :D

My eyes did get arc burned from Bungie's white legs though.
Yeah, they were like a lantern. After dark, all the bugs were swarming around them.

Rob was so glad when the trip was over. Bungie made him shave them for him every morning.

Tom held the mirror.

Butt I was there... Twice.

You best get them eye's checked, bungies legs surely must have burnt your retinas.

Tough talk from somebody from Manitoba.

I'll leave you with this, back in the 70's Sean Connery made a movie called Zardoz. It's widely regarded as one of the worst movies ever made. Unfortunately, I've seen it. I just want to know one thing. How much did they pay you?!

OM,

Looks like a wonderful ride. I'm really loving the pics - especially the one labeled Utah, where you have the bike parked on the side of the highway. This would make a really nice desktop wall paper.

Thanks for sharing.

Nik.
