Funny that they list only the FJR as the bike it will fit. Our filters will fit a majority of the cycles out there. Suppose they simply taylor the auction for each individual make/model.

I found online that "Most consider HiFloFiltro Filters to be the best in the world." Same filter is available at motorcycle superstore for $6.99 w/free shipping. Maybe cound find it for a buck or two less with more shopping.

This is from the FAQ section for oil filters that can be used for the FJR.

For information purposes only: Nissan's VQ 3.0 engine found in 95-99 Maxima uses the same oil filter as the FJR.

Some have the seal issue, just look for a deeper concave where the threads are.

I've been using the Wally World 7317 for years, to bad it's no longer available, I still own the 99 Nissan so I've got two vehicles to find new filters for.

To answer the original posted question.... I have used mainly the Hi Flo for about 50,000 miles with the FJR, 8,000 miles on my ST1100, and 15,000 miles on my FJ before that with no issues. I use the Hi Flo only due to convenience as there are the brand sold by my local mechanic. I am not partial to the Hi Flo and if it were not for the convenience and desire to support my local mechanic, I would consider using any of the filters listed by ahchiu above.

I bought a stockpile of the WalMart 7317's when they were disappearing. This filter also fit my last two bikes before the FJR.

When I run out of the WallyWorld filters I will use this awesome cross-reference,brought to us by the Calsci folks:

Filter Reference

And yes the longer filters will clear the Wild Bill highway peg mounts and don't require any loosening or deinstallation of the mounts.

I had a bunch of stock Yammy's but finally went through my stash - for a while there I was getting coupons from Mother Yamaha for $25 off $50 purchase so would go in and get 3 or 4 filters w/crush washers. A friend also was at a grand opening of a Yam/Kaw/Suz dealer and won a $50 coupon so he called and I got some more filters.

Now that they gone I have both the Purolator PL14610 & PL14612; my wife has a Smart car and it uses the shorter 12's. I'm going to try the longer version 10s and see if they'll clear my brand X hiway pegs w/o loosening them up. Around here we have Advance Auto Parts; if you look online they have coupons all the time for at least 15% off, sometimes more, so I use that, order online for store pickup. Just about the cheapest way IMO, and purolators are decent filters.

IMHO, YMMV, etc..............
