 I've been using yamaha oil filters since day one but I tried a wix filter part # 51356 it fit and was the same height but the rubber gasket did not seat and leaked because the metal holding the filter in was convex instead of concave! anybody else out there tried this oil filter?

Clicky

I used this list last month and found the Mobil 1 filter at the local parts house. Complimented it w/ Lucas semi-synthetic mc oil.

This is what I got when I did the search on the Wix web site

You have any pics of this filter you are using?

I use them in my other vehicles and like their filters and would like to use them for my bike

More help would be great

The Wix website gives the following when you put in the Yamaha Filter part number:

Search Results for 5JW1344000
This is a valid competitive part number and there is no replacement at this time.
The Wix filter 51356 is the same filter as the Napa Gold filter (Napa Golds are made by Wix) I tried not too long ago and got the same results you did, the threads are even with the o-ring, and it doesn't seat.

The GL1410 number isn't a Wix part number, it is the Micro-Gard part number. Puroltor/Pure One have a very similar part number as well.

I use Wix filters in all my cages (except Crossfire convertible) but had the same problem with the filter leaking on the FJR. Thought the person at the parts counter (whose level of education was dubious) got the wrong filter but didn't want go back and give it another go. My dealer gives us a fair price on the Yamaha filters so have been sticking with them.

Rev, the mic's on.

Does anyone know if these will fit, and can be changed, without removing the Wild Bill highway peg mounting plate since they are 3/4" longer.

Other recommended 3.25" Length Car Oil Cartridges/Filters:

Purolator Pure One PL14610

Mobil-1 M1-110

Bosch 3323

Walmart SuperTech ST7317
