Oil Leak Detection

I friend of mine and a fellow forum member told me of a trick to detect an oil leak. After cleaning the area, spray on something (he didn't remember exactly, thought it might be some kind of deodorant) that would show the leak immediately. Anyone Know of this little trick?

IIRC, some use spray on foot powder (like for athlete's foot). It will stay on the clean aluminum and show an oil path when the leak trickles.

Any light colored powder that stays where its put will work.

Mix the powder with a very fast evaporating solvent in a squeeze bottle. Then just squirt it on. The solvent evaporates leaving the powder stuck in place.

Accompanied by a miss? If so, look at where the con rod is sticking out, most likely thats your leak.
