The sight glass is seeping a little thru the seal. Not enough to cause a drip, just damp and residual on the case below it.

Anybody ever have this problem, and is it a matter of just draining the oil and carefully prying the seal out/ re-installing new one? Could not find a reference to it in the service manual.

If it's glass, and I'm sure it is, I would have a new one as well as a seal before starting. I doubt the original will survive the removal.

About $20 in parts. Drain, remove the locking ring, the glass will most likely break as Rad said. Remove the old seal, install the new one with a new sight glass and reinstall the locking ring.

My FJR doesn't have a 'locking ring'. All I see is the thin seal then the glass right behind it. It appears to be just a seal 'pressed' into place and I don't see any small indent for a prying tool to get the seal out. I guess I'll need to carefully destroy/pry the old seal out. I'm not going to do this until the seeping gets worse and have parts in hand!
