Oil weight

Yamaha suggests using 20W40 engine oil. But, if 20W40 is not available what weight should I use?

My criteria for oil is as long as it weighs in at around 1 lb 15 oz per quart it's pretty good.

I perfer olive oil. Extra virgin.

Most MC oil is fine of any 15w-40 or even synthetric 5w-40. Just don't use "Energy Conserving" oils. Read up on the NEPRT.

Shell Rotela 15w40 it is approved for motorcycle use (It has a JASO & MA rating logo stamp on it) is priced at under $12 a gallon yes I said gallon not quart ! and I have ran this oil in several motorcycles for years with perfect results. As I have said before "how can they make it so good and sell it so cheap" :clapping:
