Heidi,Was hoping I could pull this off, but, I won't be able to make it. Hope you have a great/safe ride.
Well, that definitely bites Randy. There'll be more meets, though. Definitely. Keep an eye out for some sort of spring get together.

AND TO THE PEOPLE THAT ARE GOING THIS WEEKEND... the temps are looking to be upper 40's to low 50's. I myself plan on dressing pretty warm.

See you guys Saturday morning!

Yeah...sorry I won't be able to join.

Spring?!?!?!? Please tell me I'm not the only one that rides when the temps drop below 40!!!!! :D

Oh, I'm positive that I'll be out and about over the winter months. Especially since I've decided to invest in a Gerbings electric liner this year... right now as it stands... w/ no electrics... rarely do I ride below 40 degrees for any distance.

Past late November into December I'll be staying out of the mountains until spring. Sumthin' about SNOW makes me nneerrvvoouuss.

Anyway, I was speaking of the Old Dominion group when speaking of spring. There might be someone from the group who likes to ride in sub 40 weather. If you have ride ideas definitely post up about them.

I'm really sorry to hear that you won't be making it Randy. Maybe next time, eh?

Got a PM earlier today from Glen (ONE MORE BIKE). They will be staying in Waynesboro Friday night instead of the DC area. They will meet up with us at the designated rondezvous Sat. morning.

I sure hope so. I'll be seeing the wife off on her trip to New Orleans early Sunday morning. Won't be enough time for me to make it south. I'll still be riding, though. There's a guy that organizes a bunch of rides for the Concourse Owners Group in the Baltimore/DC area and they have a ride set up for Sunday that I'll be able to make. All bike makes/modesl are welcome, so, if anyone is interested in riding that can't make it for the OD leaf peepers ride that might be interested in a ride up north, they'll be meeting at 9:00 on Sunday a.m. in Hanover, PA and ending up in Gettysburg. While the direct route is only a few miles, I understand this ride will be about 100 miles. Not sure if it will be through northern MD/Virginia or southern PA - ride route will be distributed at the meeting point.

Have a great ride, all.

Sorry, gang--I have to bail on the ride this weekend.

I got back from my New England ride on Sunday. 1,500 miles over 12 days. Ann rode with me for the first half of the trip, then she took the train back to Virginia while I visited with family for a few days in Connecticut. Tale of woe--found a nail in my rear tire during my preflight inspection last Friday, just before departing for Virginia. Went to a Honda dealer in Manchester, CT. No Bridgestones, so I opted for Dunlop Qualifiers. Tires feel "squirmy" on the FJR, and the front end has some head shake that I need to cure. This experience confirms my attitude about wrenching your own bike.

When I got home, I found a DHL envelope on my doorstep containing a recall from Penske on my shock! Seems the hose between the remote reservoir and the shock might separate from the fitting and leak. Nice thing that Penske's paying for everything--shipping and repair.

So this weekend I'm installing new Bridgestone BT020s on the FJR (keeping the Dunlops for my FZ1 when I need to replace its tires), and I have to pull the shock and ship it for repair.

Big sad face here!

Enjoy the trip, and thanks for making the room arrangements.

Huge bummer cafn8d, sorry to hear of your tire/shock woes.

Ever consider throwing a patch in that tire & putting on the rear stock shock for the weekend??? Well, I guess not. Anyhow, we will see ya'. I hope that all goes well for you.

And on a completely different note... hey peepers... weather's lookin' good!!! It'll be a bit cool, though... so, dress accordingly.

Just got home about 30 min. ago, a little tired and cold. Rode a total of 731 miles. Had a great time with Heidi, Glen (ONE MORE BIKE) and his wife Cheryl from FL, and Jim (spklbuk) from WV. Jim (JimLor), sorry you and Lorie had to leave early yesterday, we had one of the best rides all year.

Thanks to Jim Meadows for being a great "tour guide". You showed us many things and many roads we would have never seen on our own :) .

I'll get some pics posted up as soon as I can. Hope everyone made it home safe.

Hi Gary, I made it home right after 10:00. Would've been here earlier but my wondermous idea to go thru Richmond backfired. I split fr/ Glen & Cheryl right b4 Richmond.

#1- I told Glen that he needed to be careful where he goes in Richmond... because there are some really iffy areas. I am quite certain while catching every other traffic light across downtown, I managed to find that bad area that I was telling him about. Now, imagine me a little paranoid... a white girl on a shiny FJR piddling from one light to the next... w/ a load of goodies in her tank bag w/ the shadier side of life dwelling nearby.

#2 - I finally get on 64 towards home, cruising at 70-75... & traffic comes to a complete halt...I can see nothing but tail lights, tail lights, tail lights. Spent 35 minutes in stop and go CRAWLING traffic.

Once I got past that it was pretty much smooth sailing. Anyway, not totally sure of my mileage it was at about 837 the last time I looked not too far from home, so, it's somewhere in that neighborhood.

Jim, thanks so much for showing us some of WV finest. THe ride & scenery were spectacular! This is the first time while riding I was a true "stop & smell the roses kinda' girl" That was easily one of the best & rewarding bike trips I've been on to date.

Hope to hear that everyone makes it home ok. Glen, be in touch when you get your girl back to Florida safe & sound. Also, Jim & Lorie... so very sorry that you guys didn't make it. The scenery was breathtaking! But, if Lorie was cold when we were in Monterey... then she would've DIED this morning. I do believe that when we left the hotel this morning... after scraping the frost from out bikes, it was about a balmy 35 degrees.

Glad to hear that you made it home safely Gary. I'll be talking to & riding w/ everyone again very soon. The riding, scenery & company were outstanding, Heidi

Glad you all had a good time. Again, I apologize for being late and making you late meeting Jim - my fault.

We ate lunch there at the restaurant next to the Montery gas station and then rode north up 220 to Mooresville and then across 55 to 66 and on home. Ended up being 375 miles when all was said and done. We did see some beautiful country!

I left the house Sunday at ~0700 at 32 degrees. My first chance to try the Widder vest - sweet!! Now all I need is the expresso machine.

Jim, I wish that I knew that you & Lorie were having lunch. Could've definitely pointed you to a much better place than the one next to the gas station. Actually, there is a place just a little up the street on the opposite side of 250 that is a really good lunch joint & then a little further up (right past that fancy looking hotel) there is a restaurant called the Stone Hearth. I highly recommend it. Very good food.

So, you got a new vest? I knew Lorie was wearing one... didn't realize you had just bought it. Any plans to get the arm chaps, also? I'll be expecting my Gerbings this week sometime. Woo Hoo... wish I had that puppy Sunday morning! I'm looking at pics of myself on my camera's teeny little screen. I look very much like the michelin man. Hahahaha!!!

Anyway, I plan on dowloading some pics today. Will try to make time to post some up. I'm just hoping & wishing for the pics to have picked up the color the way that I saw it. The Sugar Maples... Lord, they are just gorgeous!!!

Later, Heidi

I started a new thread in the Ride Reports section, so people won't have to sift through 4 pages of posts to see our ride
