Been 27 years since I've had a bike without self cancelling turn signals-My '89 FJ1200 has excellant ones. Now because of some genius at Yamaha,I ride for miles with the dm thing on-can't seem to train myself..Anyhow is there an aftermarket unit that will do the job for me?

Yep. Many options: Linkage

The best one. Comes with a delay dial of 5 or 10 seconds...and if you don't turn it off.......

I had a BinkerBuddy on my VTX and I loved it. It was a little do-hicky (that is the technical term) that you stuff under your seat that vibrates with the turn signals. I guarantee that you will never forget they are on. I haven’t looked at the bottom of my stock seat yet to see if there is room for it, but i would be willing to be there is. If so, I will be getting another one. It also as a relay that turns it off when the brake is on to keep you from vibrating your ass at the stop lights. I have been told that these have caused a number of dead batteries due to the SO "testing it out" in the garage, but that is another story.

The support from the guy is top notch as well. I was having problems with mine and I went to order another one...the guy saw my name on the order and recognized it as someone that already bought one. He sent me a mail and walked me through some trouble shooting that fixed it. He told me that he would send me a new one at no cost (this was well after the 90 day warranty was up) if he couldn’t talk me through it.

Oh, if you do get one, make sure that anyone that may ride your bike knows its there. I let my buddy borrow my VTX one day. He returned in about 5 minutes swearing that I had a short and that he was being electrocuted. It was one of the funniest things I had seen in a while, so now that I think about it...maybe you shouldn’t tell him...your call.

Ooooo, sounds nice! I would ride with turn signal on all the time if I had one of those!
Its scary when your pillion asks you to ride with the 4-way flashers on! :dribble:

Linkage to threads on FJR self-cancelling turn signals, (Google: self cancelling turn signals site:fjrforum.com)

I had them on my XS1100. The problem I experience is that I signal early to warn others (what a concept) of what I'm planning. Mine would turn off before I made the turn, or while sitting at a signal. My work truck doesn't have auto signals so its a habit to turn them off after each turn. Its a learned technique and we "elder statesmen" don't adapt quickly.
