Oldest Battery?

Still got the original in my 06. It sees the tender about one day a week from Dec-Mar while in an unheated garage. I was thinking about replacing it earlier this year cause it seemed like it wouldn't spin the motor as fast as before on cold starts, but after installing Roadrunner's harnesses and changing the plugs, it was back to normal. Even better than before, actually.

 
Since this thread still rears it's ugly head from time to time, I've added additional years of life choices for those of you who seem to have more testicular fortitude than I regarding battery confidence.

 
Maybe one of you electrical geniuses can get me straight on this. I thought sulfation was just a lead acid battery thing. Didn't think it affected the gel batteries. Anyone know for sure?
