At some point, I guess there's just no turning back. Oh well, I have a week to get 'er dun!

Good one, rad. I always wanted to chop out a sports bike.....slam the rear end down....put some stretched forks on...maybe some ape hangers. Make it just heavy enough so that it won't be a wheelie machine. ;)

Finally gonna put that Girder front end on, eh? :D
Not just yet. HID Hi/Lo kit. And since the left fork was already off being estimated for damage repair, with that right one still on the handlebars wouldn't cooperate.

I was going to wait, but figured it would be easier to explain when the Eyes of God show up that the addition of the headlight kit just didn't deliver the kind of light I think is needed for nighttime safety. :D How can one argue with more safety?

An explainable $600 farkle is always safer than an unjustified one.

Safety first, I always say ;)

Bob, are you figuring on pulling a 1K mile wheelie next weekend? :D

There's a few bikes out there with one sided swingarms, be the first with a one sided front! Amaze your friends! Amaze the physics professors! Amaze your psychiatrist!

That would be cool.....but have it on the otherside of the rear......or, have them both on the same side. Wicked cool.

Just don't show up in Reno with a chrome extended springer front-end, ape-hangers, a maltese cross sissy bar, your tools in the very ghey leather pouch on the forks and those faggoty-ass tassels hanging all over the bike and your riding gear and all will be fine! :D

If you have those damn bells hanging on the bottom all bets are off! We may throw the bike into Lake Tahoe.

radman, check out the yamaha gts here. full production cycle with a single front swingarm. i think it's a pretty cool bike but it never caught on.

good luck with the install cutter.

We're performing software upgrades over the weekend. Go Ride.
Well, there wasn't any riding this weekend, but I just got back from a nighttime shakedown with the new HID Hi/Lo's. I'll go with

The low beams are amazing! And I was surprised with the speed the high beams activate, both on and off. As for the beamcast on high, it could be better, but it's good enough to negotiate corners in the dark and safely run about 70 in deer territory. They really light up the peripheral areas well.

If I only had something else, something more, for those dark, lonely roads. What to do, what to do?

That reminds me, I need to go get a check off in the mail.

I actually saw a '93 Yamaha GTS - on the street in the Texas Hill country on April 15th. One of our members has it and it's for sale on E-bay. Quite a machine, with ABS, and ahead of its time. Looked just like the one in the link above.

I was wondering how your lights worked out. I have the same impression with my HID hi/lo conversion. The low beams are excellent and seem just as good as they were before reversing the bulb and the other mods to the capsule. Nice sharp cutoff, excellent color and fill in of the low beam. The high has nice fill in with no real dead spots. It is probably not much better than the original high beams (with the H4 bulb) but it certainly isn't any worse. The response from lo-to-hi and hi-to-lo is outstanding. The buld stays lit with the HID and the little shutters move instantly so there is none of the slight "dead time" between beams like the H4 had. Definitely a plus for lighting all the way around.

I added a pair of HID driving lights also with the Topgun brackets and they are just amazing. Stadium lighting going down the road.

Yeah, that's next. I was kind of concerned, as the documentation says not to turn the lights on and off frequently as it could adversely affect lifespan. Maybe I could rig up some PHID shutters for dimming when oncoming traffic approaches. ;)

I doubt that the frequency of turning the driving lights on and off will hurt them within the range of use on a bike. Trust me, as others have reported, those lights are SO bright that you won't be using them much where there is any traffic to worry about. I had to ride way out in the country to find a deserted road to actually ride with them on for awhile. This will really limit the amount of on/off cycles they see I suspect.
