No real structure. Wife, dog and I are headed South and West. Want to let the dog swim in the ocean.

Probably shoot for Ventura/Pt Mugu next Monday-Tuesday then North up 101 towards Astoria where we will meet up with my son and his wife on Friday 17 April for the weekend. Home on 27 April.

Looking for some stuff to see in SW Utah along the way.

Rt 1 up the coast is not much fun in an RV. Probably do 101 instead.

Any recommendations on things we just shouldn't miss appreciated.

Need a great beach to let the dog run and swim on the coast. Seems crazy but on the coast there aren't many places for a dog to run free.

This is the new Ford F-150 Ecoboost's shakedown run.

Love to meet any of you fine folks along the way, lunch, beer, supper, coffee?

In the mid-late '80's I used to let my dog run at Emma Wood State beach, just at the northern tip of Ventura. At that time it was always deserted. Could be different now, though.

Have a good trip!

You know where the place is so if you need a spot let me know. I have RV hook ups and a dump site as long as there is no chemicals in it.

I live in Portland but on the 17th, I'll be driving through Astoria a little North East to the in-laws on my way to Ocean Park, WA. I'll have save your number and try to give you a call when I get in.

Carl

I can't help you at all, but I'd love to see a pic of your truck and trailer!

Yeah, I'm weird like that....

:)

John, I would have liked to meet up with you somewhere on the coast, but will not be back in Salem until April 27.

First hiccup, the ffing water heater failed to light last night, Momma not happy! In Longmont CO where we bought the trailer waiting to have it looked at. Thanks to all above. Doubt we will be in Marysville this trip Bugs. Ray, keeping you in mind for the trip home.

Thank Dude, N2, looking forward to your call.

If you hit Cedar City on your way through Utah send me a message. No ocean for your dog to play in but I can recommend some creeks and lakes where our dogs seem to have fun.

If your travels bring you by Farmington Utah- you can certainly 'plug in' here for a night! Also there is a small amusement park nearby that is only open on weekends till summer.

On the dog swimming in the ocean, might be farther south than you want, but San Diego has a 'dog beach' from what I remember from the Navy days. It was by Pacific and Mission beach if I remember right. You could shoot through Vegas and lose some cash

. Or visit Hoover dam. When I pulled the trailer down to Universal City last summer we docked in Sams Town RV park- it was only about $20 a night for full hookups. Have fun on the road!

Edit* Just looked at their website- shows they are now a KOA campground. Don't rember that part, being that, it might raise the rates some.

Dillon Beach ( west of Tomales on Hwy 1 north of SF. ) has a big area for motorhomes & camping. Link here https://www.lawsonslanding.com/SERVICES/CAMPING.aspx#Rules

PS they hate motorcycles- don't ask how I know.

Dogs allowed on leash in campground but the beach is huge so I THINK they can run free on the beach You will be sharing the campground with cows so there's nothing like waking up to your rig moving due to a cow scratching itself on your bumper.

This site says Dillon is one of the few beaches where dogs can run free https://www.yelp.com/biz/dillon-beach-dillon-beach

It's a fun place to hang out a few days.

Hot water heater fixed this morning, went to the Dealer we bought it from two years ago in Longmont CO, Century RV. The service Manager pulled a guy off of another job to have a look. Ten minutes later it was fixed, a loose but in the thingamaflodgit! Best of all, No charge! I bought the tech lunch.

Nice walk and lunch with a friend in Vail from the Upland Journal, a bird hunting forum I belong too.

Now parked on BLM land somewhere West of Bumphuq Colorado and just South of I 70 and almost in Utah. Supposed to be chilly tonight, mid 20's

Great day.

Our campsite on the high desert.

That looks like a newer version of our Trail Lite. The slide out is nice. You running generators?

How's that Ecoboost do with that trailer?

Honda 3500i inverter/generator in the truck.

Ecobeast does a great job pulling the trailer. We were bucking 30knot headwind most of yesterday. It ran in 6 the gear most of the time on the flat, downshifting to 3td on one occasion coming over I70 and the rockies. Since leaving home, 800 miles ago I've averaged 9.0 mpg and it is trending up, expect better now that the wind is down.

Sounds like that ecoboost does the job well. Makes me kick myself in the *** again over my foolish Toyota Tundra buying decision. That thing won't pull my 7X16 enclosed trailer in anything over fourth gear on the six speed transmission. 3700 RPM at 75 MPH makes for extremely poor mileage on the interstate.
