I was doing this exact thing on a 2007A this morning, but I was sitting on the back seat...went for miles really, and I did not have the drink.

On a cross country trip at the moment, and my seat is a butt breaker, so...what ever I can do to change up the seating situation is helpful.

you really should be wearing a helmet however.

Hate to admit but I rode the bike to the pharmacy without jacket, gloves, or leather trousers a little while ago. Just jeans, Tshirt, boots and helmet. It's just too damn hot over here for ATGATT. Afraid I would have a heat stroke.

They are sliders, also the Gen II's are cool as a cucumber. Not hot at all out on the sliders.
