Hey All,

There is a lot on here about fuel cells, but what about for someone who may only occasionally need/want to carry 2-3 gallons?

I'm looking for one to carry when I do a SS1000 around the great basin of Nevada.

Has anyone out there every carried a CARB no-spill type can?

The kind or similar listed here:

https://www.amazon.com/Scepter-07378-2-1-2G...B/dp/B000BQSKA0

I appreciate any info you may have for me.

Thanks,

Kirk

I was curious too, so Googled it up:

Indicative Prices can be found here

I carried one of the cheapo ones from Autozone in one of the side cases when I did the 50CC, it didn't leak per se, but did smell a bit even through the plastic bag. Maybe the CARB version (at over 4x the price) with the special treatment coating will not smell

Sorry.....clicky working now

never tried taking 2-3 gallons yet, but I sometimes take a few of those aluninum fuel bottles they use for camp stoves like these:https://www.msrgear.com/stoves/fuelbottle.asp

No leaks, light and easy to distribute the weight with.

I have used this type of fuel bottle for extra fuel on long trips for over 30 years and it is uber reliable and easy to pack. \

****, I am really getting vintage...

I have two of the MSR 30oz. cans bought for this purpose, but I have never used them. They are highly rated, I think REI sells them around $20 plus shipping...$30.00 includes shipping...

I had two last year and they came in extremely handy on a ride through Nevada into Southern Oregon last year. Barely made 300 miles with a tank full and the two fuel bottles. Got to a gas station on fumes, but I made it. I'll be carrying them every long ride. Never a spill carrying them 6000 miles.

I decided to build a cell that I can pull off in a matter of minutes. I can use it for the long stuff and leave it on the shelf for local travels.

If you got the coin heres a bullet proof no stink option
Uhhhmmm, Yeeeaaahh....

Are those vented? Seems like many of you have used them with no problem, but ...
Fill to the line to give some expansion room, put one bottle in the bottom of each saddlebag to distribute the weight and go. Didn't open them for two weeks in the bags up and down mountains and through brutal heat, and they opened just fine, and poured easily.
