BikeEffects (great guy, A+++ forum vendor) and, IIRC, CelloII? I've not yet met CelloII, next time..

On a most personal note, I needed closure for Andrew's death. Too many questions not answered. That never will be answered. What thoughts and mind frame were in place before hand? I don't know, and, IMHO, neither does anyone else.

Still, I needed to see. With utmost respect, please do the same:

If you don't, maybe you should?

After a nice dinner, and great hospitality and friendship, a new, yet unlived be me, day arrived and somehow, somehow, I felt at peace with Andrew, relationships, riding, and, most importantly, myself.

Reality is that it was time go home. And what a beautiful day for a ride. The rains had cleared the sky, the wind kept the crap somewhere else, I've NEVER seen I-5 in central Kali so clear and beautiful.

36-GoingHome.jpg

I rode back with KaitsDad. You may know he's rally (pun intended) trying to get an IronButt Rally invite, but on this day he took pity on me, the Candy Butt Association president, and we took lots of breaks, pee stops, and food stops too. This is the first time I've ridden with KD, and he's truly a professional rider; no un-needed chances, yet quick, and you had better be freakin phast at the pee stops… LOL.

It never looks this clear:

38-ClearWeather.jpg

After crossing the valley, we hit 101 South.

41-101South.jpg

Then west to Marina, CA.

42-MarinaCa.jpg

Yesterday, the ride was cool and brisk, I had had about 15 minutes of pretty good rain. In other words, stormy, fall-like, cool to down right cold; the seasons are changing, even in central Kali.

43-StormyOcean.jpg

Then again, less than 50 miles away.. (gotta love Ca)

44-1South.jpg

For the first time, I actually saw the light from this lighthouse!

47-LightHouse.jpg

Followed by this tree, how many storms and weather has it seen?

48-Tree.jpg

After shaking KaitsDad hand at our junction point, he continued East then South (he should be home by 2300 or so), I arrived safely home at my little patch of ground. I'm so thankful for what I have; my health, really good friends (you fjr peeps!), and most importantly, family and my loverly. The weekend, closure for past friends, making new friends, the Circle of Life of continues. Thank You all - you all ROCK!

SacMike quote ""Sam's pictures caught a lot of the highlights--good job. Actually his son took them, twisted around on the back seat somehow.""

Where do I get to see these pics ?
Click on the photo in the very first post to this thread. It's a link to a bunch of pics.

+1 to what's been said before - Thanks MadMike, for setting this up.

Great to see a bunch of excellent folks; both new and old friends. Weather was kind, some foliage bursting with fall colors, dry clean roads. Good times.

Absolutely a great weekend, wonderful seeing everyone, and there was definite closure. Well worth the trip.

Don, I made it home at 9:35 pm. If you were tracking my SPOT, the batteries went dead in north LA.

On a different note.. every time I saw this lady, she was on the phone…
5-CellQueen1.jpg
Would you believe it, the cell phone queen is at it again! (hey, this is all in fun, please don't send your hubby after me!)

20-CellQueen2.jpg

THAT would be Terri (Mrs. FJRob)...and yes, the only difference between Terri and their teenage daughter is a few years.

Seriously, when you leave teenagers home while you go out and ride wisdom suggests keeping in touch......

This is Sutter Creek? These were all virgin roads to me, I really have no idea where this is, but the GPS tracked the route, and I will be back to spend some quality time..
16-SutterCreek.jpg
NOT Sutter Creek. That is Coloma. Historic landmark and site of the gold discovery at Sutter's Mill.

I'm not a NorCal regular, and I apologize, I don't recall who you are?

JREW (John and Jan)

ExSkiBum making the phone call; you caption it!

Really, Eileen, I've been out riding with the NorCal FJR gang...well, not really gang, but "group", and then we stopped for lunch. I'll be over soon, I promise!
Great job, Don! I'm glad you could make it up for the ride.

GREAT pics, Don. Though we were riding in different groups, it was great bullshitting with you at lunch.

FWIW, Sutter Creek is a town also on Hwy 49, but roughly 75 minutes further south of the state park where that pic was taken -- just north of Jackson. Like Mike said, it's Sutter's Mill in Coloma, where gold was first discovered, setting off the Gold Rush.

That's not Cello II at lunch either, either. Sorry I don't know that rider's name, but Alan (Cello II) had to leave early from our group's stop in Georgetown -- he had to play as part of a string quartet in a couple weddings Saturday afternoon. Guess what he plays. :)

I didn't take a lot of pics as I was enjoying the roads and the people... one more gift from Andrew. :)

It wasn't difficult finding my bike.

Our fearless leader, MadMike2, on Marshall Grade Rd.

I had a bunch of these dang blue bikes following me all day!

Salmon Falls Rd.

Crappy photo as I couldn't get my camera on fast enough but this is what the American River looks like... more like the American Puddles!

After a yummy lunch, Sarah/RoxxieRae and I headed over to the Victory dealer where they were having a big demo day. We got there too late to actually take any bikes out but we did give them some seat time.

We both really liked this bike... beautiful detail on it!

414221045_jQUiN-XL.jpg

Talk about a big butt!

414221226_JFAod-XL.jpg

For how big they are, they're surprisingly well balanced!

414221461_KoFTd-XL.jpg

Sarah tried on something different... hmmmmm... not sure it's her style!

414221862_6EFxp-XL.jpg

We ended the day at Donna/demenshea and Gary's house in Sacto for a yummy dinner and great chit chat!

414222228_m7st3-XL.jpg

The next day was absolutely stunning... it had rained the night before so the air was crisp, clean, and smelled so good... the sun played hide and seek with the clouds.

414222476_pG3jD-XL.jpg

I rode over to Plymouth to meet my folks for brunch then had to jet home but I did stop and entertain my photo bug at one of the nearby wineries in the area (lots to choose from!).

Again, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome to the group... I'm sad that for the reason for the get together but glad for the gift that Andrew continues to give all of us... each other. :)

FIN

good times it seems! -thanks for sharing. Great pics from all ......

Great to see Don and Hal making the long ride up north!!

Sorry I missed ya.

The NorCA folks have group activities down-pat, no doubt about it. Nice job.

Wow, Tyler -- nice shots of Sunday!! Sunday certainly did dawn a gorgeous day after the rain. Nice to meet you Saturday.

Hmmm -- just noticed that after almost 41 months, this is my 1300th post -- something of a milestone for a fjr 1300, maybe?

Tyler, It was great to meet you, and very very cool that you and some others rode so far to join us and honor Andrew. And excellent pics too, BTW. But I did wonder about one thing:

We both really liked this bike... beautiful detail on it!
414221045_jQUiN-XL.jpg

A DETAIL? Is THAT what you call it? Still, not bad. . . On the other hand, I think those Victory monstrosities are some of the ugliest bikes anywhere. But to each his own (or hers, of course). :)

Mike, Mike, Mike... what am I to do with you?  The Victory is a very unique bike for sure... not my cup of tea but I don't like to badmouth any 2-wheels out there. Different strokes for different folks but we all love riding 'em! ;)

Hey Tyler, is that beauty and the beast on the license plate? ;) ;)

It's hard to tell which person in the photo is enjoying themselves more!?!?!?

Sarah tried on something different... hmmmmm... not sure it's her style!
414221862_6EFxp-XL.jpg
Uhm....I'm thinkin'....but I'm not typing what I'm thinkin'!

Somehow, the red Suzuki is much more Sarah's style. But then, one never knows..... :dribble:

SOME of us met early and rode in that area. In fact, I think we passed that vineyard, but then, they all look similar. We came from Shake Ridge Road down Fiddletown Road through Plymouth to Sacramento Rd. to Latrobe Road.

Again, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome to the group... I'm sad that for the reason for the get together but glad for the gift that Andrew continues to give all of us... each other. :)
His interest in people and riding is certainly his gift to us. You are more than welcome to join any of our rides, as is anyone you'd send our way. As you can see, we are NOT platform specific, it just so happens this is an FJR-based forum but we welcome riders, not specific bikes. And it was great to finally meet you, too.

This pix for my very good and most eloquent friend, ToeCutter!
23-ForToeCutter.jpg
Irnically, it also depicts what I was stuck doing Saturday. Of course, you all probably knew that already, or I'd have been along.

Looks like you folks had a great time. Wish I (and Andrew) was there in person. Good to see lots of people in my favorite brand of gear, and even a shot that looks like DonC "Staying right". Dude, you gotta get some of their water/wind proof liners...and fleece undergarments. Bein' cold blows!

Also good to see they got the waterfall fixed. It looks much nicer than the last time I saw it....

Vaya con Dios, Andrew

hey, i wasn't the only one enjoying the papier mache pink scooter (ask Tyler how light it was... we almost had scooter dominoes in front of Performance Cycles).

3020815829_1ceda16132_o.jpg

No kidding... I sat on it and pulled it up off the kickstand... after riding the Trophy, I almost just whipped it right over on to its side which would have sent the 5 or so scooters lined up next to it to fall over too... then again, a good strong breeze might've done the same thing... felt like a bicycle!!
