I met up with Dave on Tuesday morning at about the half way point between Las Vegas and Lake Havasu at the junction of NV Hwy-95 and NV Hwy-163. Riding from there to Kingman was as expected "Hot". Wanting to get through the heat fairly quick, we rode to Oatman before we actually had a chance to get something cold to drink and get to know one another a bit before continuing on. Dave had not had any breakfast, so we decided a stop in Kingman at Mister Dz for some ice cream would be nice to bid farewell to the heat.

About five minutes after leaving Mister Dz we went from 105+ to pouring rain and 65 degrees. With rain and lightning coming down around us, we continued on riding down Historic Rt-66, stopping a couple times to take pictures or adjust rain gear. Although we did have a bit of a reprieve from the rain while we waited our turn to proceed at a construction zone for 15 minutes because Rt-66 was down to 1-way traffic only for 8 miles.

We stopped in Seligman to refuel (where Rt-66 comes to a temporary end).

Our final stop together was in Williams, AZ where Dave would turn north towards the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and I would continue the additional 30 miles or so to Flagstaff to visit with my kids.

During our 5-6 hours of riding together, Dave had told me he had stopped by a camp ground to visit with some Forum members in Northern California.

All in all I must say the ride was a lot of fun. Even riding in the rain was nice because it rescued us from the heat. Having the opportunity to meet Dave while he traveled his way through the Western United States from England was great.

Dave arrives at the junction of Hwy-95 & Hwy-163 just north of Laughlin, NV

It was a good day, always nice to meet new friends. I'm in Moab now having spent yesterday visiting the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley before heading onto Bluff via the Moki Dugway (Hwy 261). Having taken the obligitory photo I came back down again and then suffered a complete electrical failure. After digging around it seemed that the earth conection on the battery had worked loose so nothing to major and I managed to get going again. To Pinedale in Wyoming tomorrow via Flaming Gorge, about 500 miles so an earlyish start.

Dave
