I've got about 2600 miles now on the Bridgestones that came with it. Anybody remember what kind of miles they got out of the oem Bt-020's? I'm only 300 miles from SFO. I mean, surely my tires would last 3 or 4 more days---right? I've got a new set of Avon's in the shed, but i just detest changing tires early.

Feedback?

I am willing to bet that your fine... But they will be shot by the end of the weekend.

Those roads are like 40 grit sandpaper, But hella fun! :yahoo:

I was going to replace my OEM Metzlers after this ride. I have about 5800 mile on them. However after goin gto the bike shop and comparing them to the tires on a new FJR I am goin gto replace them. About a 1/4 of an inch of rubber is gone off the rear. Tread depth in the front is about 1/16" but there is some cupping. The back also has a plug in it. Put in from the inside at about 800 miles.

I don't want to be looking around AR on sat for a tire, or worse yet get ablow out.

i wonder what the average tire life for metzler z6's is. I know I know use the search function

At 6000 miles my Z6's were toast!

My BT020's were seriously cupped in the front at 4k miles and squared and needing replacement in the back at 6k miles.

Check with Tony (Yamaha Sportcenter and a sponsor of SFO). He might be bringing his tire changer with him. I suspect you could have a set of tires installed while AT SFO but you might need to let him know what to bring! (Yes, we do paper the attendees.)

Yea, I'm probably going to swap tires before I come over---not! I'm riding it like it is.

Thankfully, Tony brought a selection of tires to SFO. Tracy and I took advantage of this and got them mounted at the local Suzuki dealer in under two hours, and were back barnstorming the Ozarks soon after. Tracy's rear tire wouldn'd have made it home, and my front, like Bounce's was badly cupped. New rubber sure makes a difference. I should have replaced it maybe 2,000 miles earlier. Tony was a very generous sponsor and the Storms sure saved the day..........Back in DFW and on to home tomorrow morning.

Guys,

We really missed it when looking for a place to change tires. Right across the street from the hotel next to Subway is an independent shop that changes tires. Well, we will know next year.

Only 3800 miles from my rear BT020. But sometimes I'm a little enthusiastic with the throttle.

Thanks to Tony for the Avon Storm and I really like it. It really sticks!!!
