I've been concerned by the bulk of my Cee Bailiy +4+4 applying forces to those screws. But, I'd guess that laying the screen back as a tuning block does would reduce the stress.
If anybody reports, "Duh, my screws broke too", I'd appreciate hearing about the size of the screen and whether the screen was at stock angles or layed back by some means.
I've had a +7" CeeBailey on there since 11/02. NEVER snapped one screw! I did, however, change them a few times already because they're cheezy plastic crap. You can strip the Philips head easily.
I hauled the (just repaired) FJR back from Lake George NY last june in some HEAVY wind. Combined with the fact it was being buffeted by my van pulling it, that big screen was moving around severely. Never popped a screw, even through that 3 hr trip back home on the trailer. And I had the screen just about all the way down!
I have the +4/+4 Cee Bailey standard contour on my '04 FJR and have not had any problem with the screws. I usually ride with it in about the 80% full up position and have had it well over 100 mph many times in that position without problems. I check the screws for tightness every couple months.
