We are riding from the Seattle area to Eureka this summer. We are talking about taking the PCH through Southern Washington, Oregon, and a little bit of Northern California. We'll need an overnight stop about mid-Oregon.

What are your suggestions?

The Oregon coast is a great ride but in the summer months every ***** on the planet thinks so also so be prepared for lots of slow moving traffic. Pick a midpoint and make a reservation so you are sure to have a room. When you get to Eureka make sure you do a meal at the Samoa Cook House. If you have time a walk on the waterfront is fun and so are the harbor cruises.

I am certainly no expert here; but I did a trip to Crater Lake then to coast mid-state then 101 S back to CA.

I had a great stay in Florence. I stayed at BW there. Very nice. Great little seaside town.

However, I agree with FJRay, lots of traffic on 101. Also, was surprised as how many miles where there is zero coast view. The area that are, simply amazing. I would say, since I rode the OR coast once, I would not do it again per se.

Have a great ride.

On a similar ride a few years ago, I had a great stay in Yachats (Yah-hots), about half-way between Newport and Florence. It's less touristy than most of the other towns along the Oregon coast.

We're headed down in early August, so I'm sure there will be trafic on the roads.

Thank you for all the great suggestions!

But I thought you did not like riding in Kalifornia! Maybe they do not want you to come down...

As mentioned somewhere, my wife was born in LA, and she's the one that wants to go to Eureka. I am required to go, or marital bliss shall be shattered. I will suffer California for her sake.

Did I mention that we are going to Eureka for a Spyder Owner's event?

My likes or dislikes are not brought into consideration for this trip

Spyders in the Redwoods? We ran into a few early arrivals in Eureka for the Gathering of the Clans a couple of years ago... it made me laugh because I had ridden about 15K miles on my Spyder and hadn't seen more than a half dozen of them out on the roads in my travels... pulled in the parking lot in Eureka and there were 14 of them!

Yes! Spyders in the Redwoods.
Are you going this year?
Probably not... so many places to go, people to see, and things to do! ;)

If you get tired of the 3-wheel crowd, ping Eddie (FarWestFastEddie) who lives in Eureka and I'm sure would show you some really fun backroads if he's around... I had no idea there were so many in the area! B)

Boy I don't know about that crowd. Hangin with Tyler is scary enough but a whole crowd of them could be bad.

I was at the clan gathering when the Spyders showed up and there were a couple with his and hers units that had every known bit of bling with matching trailers. The amount of money they admited to was obscene. As long as you stay far enough norht in Kali you will be safe. Have fun.

Been up and down that road many times. Lots of great places to spend the night, pretty much pick a city and enjoy. Florence, Coos Bay, Reedsport. Gold Beach is great if you want to do the jet boat trip up the Rogue River. If you get a chance, stop in Pacific City at the Pelican Brewery and enjoy a Kawanda Kream Ale. Make sure to hit the Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka, very tasty eats. +1 on the Samoa Cook House.

Looking forward to the RR!

Somewhere along the coast would be another fantastic spot to stay over

Great little coffee and cafe shop on the east side of the road. Green Salmon I think.
